What gives with the elves?

Ok, what is up with all the elf references. I'm a newbie to this board, but i've played paintball for the last ten years, and I've never heard any of this elf stuff. I am sure this is some kind of running joke, but how did it start?

To make a long story short... an article was written and an offhand comment was made to the effect that elves (as well as other things) did not make a marker shoot farther than another.

We on AO just took that and ran with it.

There are many posts about it, just do a search using the words ELVES and you will find a bunch.

oh, ok. I haven't been factoring in the elf component during the chrono. No wonder i was spiking.

I think Ni_cD came up with the elves theory when people kept saying theyre gun could shoot farther, so he invented the "autococker evlves", elves who live inside the gun and magically make it shoot farther!
