At my last count...2

Lizza and Sarah are the only *true* female AO members, but a bunch of guys had all their wives and girlfriends register to give them a better chance in that drawing a few weeks back.

My reasoning? Most girls have no interest in actually playing the sport as a hobby. You always see a couple at the rec fields who want to try it out, but for the most part they don't get into it like guys. They're afraid to shoot, they run away, they are terrified of getting hit. I'm not trying to look like a jerk here, it's simply what I've observed over my past few years in paintball.

My guess is, out of everyone who tries paintball, 15% of those people is female. About 10% of the females that try paintball actually gets into it, so about 1.5% of all paintball players are female -- leaving 98.5% to be male. It's a complete estimate, but it sounds accurate to me.

I've seen 10% females in the sport on numerous websites, but experience doesn't quite back that up. I'd go for 5%, though.

Then again, there are a few female regulars at the field I go to, including those from Fallen Angels, so hey...

On average, I see one or two women every time I play a pickup game.

I have yet to see a really good offense female player (then again, IMHO only about 1 in 10 male players play good offense), but it has been my experience that women players, even beginners, are tenacious defense players. They find the best defensive positions and they are fearless. Often the only way to get them out is to bunker them (I try to avoid that at all costs) or get a difficult shot on their hopper or barrel.

My Girl plays and she loves it. And trust me she has never run away in a game. She is an MP in the army, she is good in a fight too. Her second time playing we were at this place that had a 10 ft rule and some guy kid shot her from about your screen to you..... she ran after him and hit him with her tank(it is a steel on not a carbon fiber)! She is awesome!
