    Need pump mag rail info

    Ok guys,

    I have found numerous websites talking about pump mags. Many with pictures. None have given me the details i'm looking for.

    So this is what I need:

    1. Picture of the front of pump milled rail.

    Yes thats right. A dead on straight picture of the front of the rail. This picture taken correctly will not have the top, bottom, or either side of the rail visible. It will just be the front of the rail.

    2. Also if someone wouldn't mind measuring the length of the slot for me. Please be as accurate as possible.

    This is the info I am interested in:

    Also please don't direct me to the cad drawing of the pump rail that is found here:cad drawing at bottom of page

    If I understood how to read it I wouldn't be asking

    Thanks in advance

    It looks to me like the lengths are the vertical numbers. Take a second look at the drawing.

      I think you could be right.

      Anybody else have an opinion on this?

      Still hoping for a pic of the front of the rail.

        The slope also has a 2 parts step of different degrees . . . by the way.

          The slope is actually 2 radii, the start and end points of the radii are on that Cad drawing.
          The #'s preceded by an R is the size of the radius.
          Read the #'s from right (marked .000) to left.

            from reading the cad I thought so. But it is not noticeable in pictures.

            [Edit] After looking at the picture the 2 part step is very noticeable. I originally thought it must be the lighting.

            Since you do this type of work would you say that the cad file is correct in all its measurements?

              Honestly I'm not sure , I've never compared it to my drawings. That CAD is the one get's passed around the most though so I'd guess it's pretty close if not correct. Someone would have added the correction by now if otherwise. Oh , and there's no need to run the steps as actual radius segments , only to locate the points of each path.

                Well the more info you guys give me the harder I think this will be to do by hand Yes RRfireblade your price as reasonable as i'm sure it is, is more then I want to spend.

                The main reason I want a pic of the front of the rail is to see how deep the slot is. I assume if reading the cad drawing correctly I would look at the horizontal .000 at the right of the picture and the horizontal .180? at the left of the picture.

                If so what is .180? Inches?

                  0.180" is the depth of the front of the cut. The drawing uses the deepest portion of the cut as it's zero.

                    OK so .188" = 3/16" so just a hair under 3/16"

                    .063" = 1/16"
                    .125" = 1/8"
                    .188 = 3/16"
                    .250 = 1/4"

                      Basically yes. It's really showing more of the tool path and the moves in the +Z it seems.

                      Not really the specs for the actual slot besides the dims in the bottem part of the drawing.
