why would you put oil on the nipple anyway???? Two sad thing about that is now he has to fix his gun and get a new tank to boot. He also wont be able to.........well ya know. not with that hand anyways.

That o-ring was designed speciaicaly not to need any lubrication. There are some greases that in theory could, but if it's in the least bit petroleum based it can cause detonation when you flash fill one. Even if theres no petroleum content, there are other combustables that COULD be present, it's just a dumb chance to take with....well literaly your life.
You have to understand that he's damn lucky he has a hand. I've seen video of 5000psi shooting a temperature probe out of a pipe through a piece of reinforced concrete......I guarantee you that one well placed hit could kill you, especialy if it turns the reg to shrapnel like that did.
HPA is extremely safe to work with in it's modern format if you show a little sense and respect when filling the tanks. I personally dislike the fact that scuba fill stations almost never come with warning materials or instructions....Comment

ive gotten similar burns on my hand, and they are very painfull
im surprised he could hold his hand still for the pic. mine was twitching for days.
ive been comtemplating putting a sign by the fill station saying "DO NOT OIL BOTTLES" or something of the sort.
while there have been many threads about this i dont think the people who need to get the message are.
just like the detached co2 bottles. Maybe manufacturers need to add a " do not use oil in this tank" statement..

just for clarification for me and others/safety concerned....we are talking about the fill nipple area only on not putting/oiling up that area for what ever matter somebody would put oil there, not me...this area only, right? and not the area where the end o-ring on tank screws into the asa....now getting confused, can that end/bottle o-ring be oiled a little that go's into the asa? or just put no oil anywhere on the hpa tank at all?
i just had my 4500 tanks fill nipple replaced, it leaked/stopped leaking/but did not refill till i came back from the Michigan Monster, and had my local shop look at it and change/replace it/loctite it and good to go....just trying to keep things in perspective/and safety...thankx, thegrayghostComment

When the tire techs change a semi truck tire they put it in a device
before they air it up, so the outer ring doesnt decapitate someone.
Some one should use that model as a starting point and invent a device to put air tanks in when airing them up.
Then they can patent it and start a thread in here.....

what type of enclosures or semi enclosures are you guys using?
ive been thinking of doing something similar and was wondering what materials and construction methods you guys used.
we currently have a 4 line fil station so it would need a rather large enclosure or 4 seperate ones.
im also typing out my "DO NOT put oil in bottles" sign now
also re training all the refs to fill tanks slowly and dont be afraid to ask if you unsure about something.
