    Anyone have an excaliber?

I already had an E-mag and I may still get one( when the extremes become available). Just was wondering if they are a good marker, don't care for angels. Don't need the lcd ,temp,. etc. etc. Are they all hype with Elves inside

    Thx, B

I shot one at Mardi Gras and it felt really nice. There's a very definate sweet spot on the trigger where it rips out a lot of paint. As far as reliability goes, I could'nt tell you.

my friend has one, he got it annoed and that took like 3 months, and at first when he got it he chopped a lot(fixed now). It is really quiet, fast, and closed bolt. I personally would get an e-mag or angel for around the same price

well, the excaliber is made by akalmp. they have been known for making only high quality products. i wouldn't expect anything less than say, AGD would produce.

            lol
i'm actually sitting here playing around with mine
I love this gun, fast efficent reliable. The regulator went down once, mailed the reg to them on a monday had a replacement on thursday
feel free to ask me any questions, also check out the aka forum at pbnation
            Pro's
Very efficent- like dropping 9 pods on a 68 4500 with an extra 1500 psi still in the gun. Easily shoots a case on a 68 4500 fill
Consistent- side winder regualtor is excellent talking +- 3 fps on a screw in nitro tank
Easy on paint- i chopped my first ball on case 13 and in the span of the gun sofar (30+ cases) have chopped 10 and mabye 15 barrel bursts
Low cycling pressure- my excals bolt runs at 55~60 psi very low chance of chopping
AKA- excellent customer support, gave it to them at world cup for a go over and they replaced several expensive parts to the newest spec
Cool Factor- Nobody has an excal, I like being different
            Con's
Loader picky- a non x board 12 volt will not cut it any higher than stock bps settings i would recomnend a halo or richochet
Expensive- 1200 bucks is alot for an pball gun even if it kicks but

              Thx!

I have an rt, already made the switch to a halo. I have read alot of posts in pbnation, but they seemed biased. I came here to get real perspective.

              Questions:

              1. How long does the battery last?
              2. What options for rate of fire?
              3. How much recoil(compared to a mag or angel)?
              4. What kind of paint were you using when it did chop?
              5. Was it the paint that made it chop or loader?
              6. Are any parts interchangeable from other manufactures?
              7. In your opinion was the purchase worth it?
              8. other than the reg. how reliable is it?

              Thx, B

How much do they weigh? And I've heard a lot about merlins, what are those all about?

The AKA website states the weight as 3 pounds w/out tank or barrel.

                    1. How long does the battery last?
I change mine every 4 cases, guns starts acting very funny with low batts
                    2. What options for rate of fire?
none nothing but semi-auto totally nppl compliant
                    3. How much recoil(compared to a mag or angel)?
hmmm stock i'd say as much as a mag, once broken+ LPR lowered same or less than angel
                    4. What kind of paint were you using when it did chop?
fresh inferno very brittle breaking on 2 drops from waist high
                    5. Was it the paint that made it chop or loader?
                    Little of both i think
                    6. Are any parts interchangeable from other manufactures?
well it takes cocker threads and has normal asa threads, AKA has options like high low rise and double single trigger. To be honest it needs no other upgrades
                    7. In your opinion was the purchase worth it?
I love the gun however it is quite expensive and i have heard the viking will be excellent as well. It will be faster than an excal (closed bolt can only cycle so fast) just as efficent and about 400 cheaper.
                    8. other than the reg. how reliable is it?
In 30 plus cases of paint i havn't even replaced an oring. Keep fresh batt's in and you'll be fine

Merlins are aftermarket autococker bodies. They are vert feed only and come with a custom tornado valves. Guns such as Revenge 2's use these bodies

I actually like the close bolt design(should be quieter and have less blowback). I can only pull 10 balls a second anyway IMO thats plenty! The viking looks like a super spyder to me. Not the gun I'm looking for.

                      Thx, B

Have you seen the new viking? It's no longer a blowback, it's now an open bolt electro similar to an impulse or angel. Just somthing you may wish to check out

I thought the Viking WAS an Impulse? I know I am wrong here, but I thought it was their version of a custom Impulse. Some one please bring me out of the dark..

the viking should look just like an excaliber and should have alot of the same parts. I think the big difference is that it is open bolt, which makes it easier to produce and it only needs one soleniod to operate it instead of the two that the excaliber uses. It is basically a cheaper version of the excaliber, very similar to the shocker compared to the impulse.

I like the look of the three tube design(extra solenoid)of the excal. As I said before the viking looks to much like a spyder for my liking and, I like the close bolt. I know closed bolt does not improve range or accuracy, but it should operate quieter than an open bolt. Blow back should not be much of an issue either(correct me if I'm wrong). Thx for all the responses!

                              Thx, B
