    new gun owner!!

Hello I just received my brand new automag classic on Monday! I've wanted to buy one for nearly 15 years and I finally was able to do so. I was waiting for prices to drop and have all my bills caught up. Well I finally got all that done and bought one from the factory direct.

The gun is a classic black body hl pf with lvl 10 added. I just forgot to order one other thing and that was a sight rail.

I just can't wait to get out to my local outdoor feild and give the gun a good workout!

By the way does anybody know where I can get a sight rail? The stores up here don't even handle automags.

They are on ebay all the time, dirt cheap too. Congrats on the new gun. It will serve you well for many, many years. By the way, we need photos.

        CKY, you're such a pain

Sight rails...unless you really like the look, or are going to mount some sort of sight system...are fairly obsolete now-days, except for a full tilt scenario gun.

Welcome to the evil that is AutoMag, and welcome to AO!

BTW, we can't stand "new gun" thread without pictures

I had to find my last sight rail on ebay. The black low rise rails you see are usually the old TASO rails. With a power feed, some sort of occluded sight makes sense, red dot or self illuminated. I have a low rise rail that I cut down and I slide a $5-$10 'point sight' on it. A cheap sight lasts a long time hiding behind a stainless power feed. They weigh nothing too.

The main reason I have a sight on that marker is that it is on a remote and there is no bottle to give me another reference point to aim from. It is also very handy for stalking and night games. It's pretty useless for assaults or speedball though (until you are down to your last few paintballs).

Don't bother with the old iron sights if you come across them. They are beyond ugly, hard to see, and have too short of a sight radius. If you decide to use a sight, make sure your rail and sight combined are going to fit with your loader and power feed the way you want.

The problem with the old plain sleeve rails is that they need to be pushed up to the power feed so that they don't interfere with the valve. When you tighten the mounting screws they cinch up on the body and if they are hanging back on the valve, they will at least make it a pain to get the valve out. The later 'flying' rails don't have that problem, but they tend to be higher like the original high rise sleeve rail.
