    best marker for woodsball

I'm looking into buying an automag. I would like to get the opinion of somone who knows these markers.

I plan on buying a used (but working) marker off ebay, hopefully for around $50 to $75 and making upgrades to it later (if need be).

I just want a mechanical semi. I'm mainly just wanting something light and accurate. Also it would have to run on CO2 because I don't think I could do HPA were I live (S.GA).

I would also be open to buying that parts and assembling a marker, if I could keep the cost down.

    Recommendations? Things to avoid?

    Thanks!

Mags hate liquid CO2. Use a remote, expansion chamber, anti-siphon tank, or best yet, a Palmer's Stabilizer to keep out liquid.

Best results reportedly can be had with an anti-siphon tank and a Stabilizer.

Finding a fully functioning automag for $50-$75 is really tough... and it's so easy to get carried away. When I bought my first classic, I camped out on eBay for a month and finally found a simple gun for $80 + shipping. Then, after playing with it twice, I spent another $40 on an expansion chamber, a small drop forward, and some marco lines. After a few months, I changed out the body, added wood grips... *sigh* And now I'm thinking of adding an Interceptor barrel. When will it end?!

      Anyway... back on topic.

If you're determined and patient, the cheapest way to go is wait for a gun that's pure and simple... like this. To avoid CO2 problems, run it on a remote. You might have to buy a parts kit, but that's how to get yourself into the market. Then, after a couple of months, you can always start adding improvements here and there, and this is a great place to find information and parts.

Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you need more help.

I read on here, the joy of owning an Automag was that you never stopped moding/changing it. It never ends!!!

Some of the cheaper ones on ebay already have expansion chambers. The old classics that are being sold out of the attic were running CO2 before they were put away.

My preference is for an unaltered AIR or CLASSIC valve (no mods, hacks, aftermarket regs, etc.) with matching reg and valve body numbers. It's a little assurance that no one was tinkering with it before. I don't care between alloy and fiber frames, but a fiber frame should indicate a later model that should need less tweaking if you decide to start going for high-rate-of-fire mods.

If you use 9oz bottles, the old back bottle adapter feels good as a stock, but makes plumbing the expansion chamber a little goofy.

Or an A-5. Seriously, easiest gun to fix ever, and easiest to get parts for. Not to mention you can customize it's appearance to your hearts content. They can be a bit loud though... however for a general woodsball/scenario, they do the job just fine. I'll stick to my warp mag though, because it's just way more comfortable for me to shoot with it.
