Was just thinking... SFL's were basically...

... just further milled down, originally un-milled Euro X-Mag Bodies (obviously weren't called X-Mags at the time, but ya'll understand...).

Wouldn't it be possible to just pickup some of those un-milled bodies again, and have someone with a really really good mill and CAD skills, design something new & cut'em down? (seeing as the SFL CAD's are long gone...).

You could. but it would be very expensive to have it done. Even Shockteh won't do it I alread asked...

The cuts on the SFL Body were relatively easy and I bet you could get something that looks real close by any competent machinist.

Agreed. I don't believe they were ever actually CAD'd. I think they were just CNC programmed at the machine IIRC.

Really shouldn't be hard to replicate pretty well on a Euromag body.

If you are hiring out machines, operators, and computers, just make a whole new body and not chop up the euro's.

I for one like being one of the few with an sfl, if anyone could get one milled, we wouldn't be as special, but obtaining a full euro xmag, then paying for it to be machined, and re annod, the price would be probably similar to the going rate of sfl's anyways, so who knows. I for one like having an original sfl

Yeah, if you're going to spend the money, don't spend it on copying something, ideas are free! (kindof)

I was just thinking aloud, or on the forum anyways. No intention of making SFL's again. But it has got me thinking of those un-milled Euro Bodies... just thinking...

i understand the feeling of having something so rare it makes you feel well good, the SLF market which is extremely small to begin with is so tight lipped that the possibility of running into one without knowing the secret handshake is very minute.

If someone wants to spend the money to have an SLF milled, rest assured the cost alone would keep too many from flooding the market.

and think you can get a lotus for $xxx, xxx and its worth it after you buy it, or you can get a fake lotus body bolt it onto a 63 VW frame and have a look alike.

the real deal is still much better, so dont fear you reputations for having some of the slected "original" gems will not be tarnished.

you guys kill me. I like it so much, but i dont want anyone to copy it
