I hope that patent is written such that it is cyclone-specific, since most all loaders are built to have a lowered profile than previous generation.

I can't see what's wrong with cutting off the top of a pod...

this is a design patent - it only covers the look/presentation of the item in question.

You will note that the Tac Cap looks significantly different from a pod cap.

Cut away to your hearts' content - as long as the end result doesn't look like a tac cap.

Secondly, most pod lids will 'almost' fit the cyclone feeder, with almost being the operative word.
