AO downtime

I allong with many other members have been unable to access this site for almost a week due to some batabase error. I would like to know if anyone knows why this happened and how we can avoid it in the future(i.e. give us a heads up so we can grab our information before it goes down) anyone with some concrete info please post. no "my friend told me so" posts.
