    Ripper body Mods/rail mods

Well, I dont particularly care for the Rail XMT has produced for the ripper xt bodies of his and had a messed up tuna rail I got recently so I figured, what the hell, let do some filling! I didnt like the way the ripper body sat on the rail, so I smoothed it out quite a bit and got rid of a lot of sharp edges. I also extended the body design into the old rail and got the basic shape of it now. I've got 3 hours into it so far and probly a lot more to go. This is only a rough design of what It'll be when done. I may get it powdercoated since the rail needs to be patched with JB weld or somthing.

I will update this as my pneumag progresses. What do you think?

          I like it.

You need a sleeper rail next time.

I feel the same about how the body sits on the rail.
I like how you got rid of the bottom "ledge"

looks better... i like the rail flowing like that also... other rail looks like it is fighting the body....

                good idea..

Also all the bodies i have seen pics of and a couple in person look rough, i would hate to pay that much for the body then either have to pay someone else to polish it out for a gloss look or have to put in the time to do it your self...

hope the next body come out cleaner..

Yea your right about it being rough. But then again its more or less straight off the mill and really doesnt look that bad for being all machine made. The polishing part is what drove me to customize this body. I figured, well I'll have to sand it no matter how I look at it. why not get creative. After all I did want this gun to be a one off.

updates: did a lot more filling, dremeling, sanding, and the like and eventually got it to look like this

Which I must say is smoother than It comes from the mill. I've still got more work to do getting it perfectly smooth, but its really shaping up and I'm impressed with my ability. I guess teens can do good!

Once I get all the pneumatics plumbed and all my parts I've got to settle on a plating service. I think i'm gonna have to paint or powdercoat it since the rail is going to need patching of some type. But any idea's on color? I really like a black to yellow fade. But I'm open to all suggestions

Thanks, I'm thinking that since I need to use bondo or JB weld on the rail I may use duracoat gun finish- supposed to be extremely rugged and would be cheaper than powdercoat. Plus I can do It myself.
I'm liking the urban camo theme, or yellow to black fade. I got time to think about it.
