What oil do you use for your precious gems?

I use air tool oil that I got at a thrift store.

Yup ... me too ... 1.00 at wally world for a pint i think ... it would last forever if i'd stop spilling it

what kind of air tool should I be looking for? Petroleum based? Is there anything I should avoid?

Probably get the synthetic stuff. I use KC synthetic for now until it's gone. I'll use synthetic air tool oil when I run out of the KC. Probably very similar if not the same thing.

what is this air tool oil? i mean, i;ve been using gold cup/autolube my whole life, so i was surprised to see very little mention it...

its oil, used to oil air tools.Such as pneumatic hammers, nail guns, etc..

any synthetic air tool oil will be fine. just make sure its synthetic.
