    Chronographs, any suggestions???

Hi everyone. Anyone have a suggestion about Chronograph? I was looking at the Shooting Chrony, F1. Anyone use one? One of my buddies bought a PMI handheld one, and it hasn't been working too well, so I was thinking about picking up a legit one. Open to all suggestions. Thanks guys

I had one of those "big red" types. The stationary type your field likely uses. It was good and accurate and there's pretty much nothing that can go wrong on them. Is the F1 the one with the readout and fancy stuff? Noth sure if it is, but I was looking at what I described and it had a scroll of paper that came out with readings. Good to measure drop-off at high ROF, but a little fancy for what I needed.

Radarchron if you are looking for something compact, any of the red shooting chronies if not. You pick the model based on what features you want and how much you want to pay.

There is a new radarchron that does ROF measurements too.

I got a X-Radar Chronograph by Custom Chronograph, Inc. I've been really happy with it. It measures 200-400 fps and 4-30 bps. has a 3 digit read out. You just hold the button and shoot under it. I got it on ebay for like $60 i think, but they are like $80-100 in stores if i remember right.

            Get this:

Since it's made to accurately record firearm's bullet speeds by starting and stopping a timer isung 2 different radar beams, it's going to be more accurate than a single-source dopplar radar device (radarchron) that relies on "bounce-beam" technology to start and stop the timer with that one beam.

Order the "F-1" model, it's what I use.

Radarchron are fairly accurate to about +/- 10 fps as I have observed the difference between the one a buddy uses in comparison to mine. 10 fps isn't a whole lot...but mine is accurate to within +/- 2 fps as I have tested with .44 Mag rounds that I reloaded.

Shooting Chrony's posted price is $99.95.
            Radarchrons average ~$69.95 - $89.95

For the average increase of <$30, what would you really want to depend on? What are your eyes worth to you?
