anno?

I have been noticing something that I don't so much like...

What ever happened to the "cool" anno styles out there...there are some that I really like that I have not seen in a long time. Did the anno become "impractical" (hindered the function of the marker), are they just not popular anymore, or are they too expensive with today's "disposable marker" market (as in use it up throw it out, or oh new model year ditch the old in with the new...even if it is that exact same marker with diffrent milling and a new feedneck)

The types of anno that I am specifically thinking about are "splash anno" (I always thought that looked neat) and "acid wash anno" (I think the only gun that still does that are phantoms...which makes me sad the acid looks so cool...so much better than that auroa crap).

i too am a fan of the splash annos and wish they would make a real comeback, but now all the ids want is a marker thats "special edition" because of some ugly as sin team anno scheme. that and things like excessive amounts of laser engraving seem to be the "in" thing, but i hate both

I think that as you said the disposable gun issue is part of the reason you dont see the cool anos anymore. Why would a company spend the extra money to have it done to a production gun if they can sell the gun for the same amount but use a cheaper dust ano.

I for one love the older anos I think the cost is another factor. And lack of places that do the fancy anos anymore.

All true. Alot of these guns are nothing special anymore to even warrant a nice anno job. Hell, there used to be tons and tons of nice high end cockers that were all done up that probably wouldnt fetch $200 today. I used to love the old Bob Long cockers - Gloss blue w/nickel accents. Back in the day, that was pimp. You saw a guy on the field with one of those and you wanted him on your team. LOL

Well, I didnt 'come across' it so to speak. I purchased it from Edweird like 6-7 months ago. I have been collecting parts since then. I just got it back from anno this week. Im going to do a thread called "SFL Restoration" soon and I will post up the before and after pics.

RE-annoing the valve is a 50-50 shot. It will either work, or not work and there is no guarantee.
