Okay, they completely ripped off the AGD videos, I consider that paying homage to an obviously superior product, sales and marketing do with it what they want.

Their previous business tactics aside, I have to admit they have created a cheap gun that seems to fulfill all the current demands of the marketplace. You've got to give them credit for that.

All the features of an Automag at 1/3 of the price, even if it is crap I suppose you could buy three.

Anyhow I just think they(sp) have just took every possible action to drop their prices to a level unreachable by most of the competition. With the volumes they are pushing of these pieces of crap(you said it lol) their material costs per marker can drop, so they are probably still making a decent profit margin off each one. Removing the eyes were just another step to lowering their production costs, and they used the videos here to try to prove they are no longer needed for their marker.....if it is really effective as they claim who knows.

Depends on what you mean by "go after". Legally, likely not, but it'd certainly be more than possible to tarnish the Smart Part name a bit. After all, isn't plagiarism an unusually foul thing these days? AGD just "needs" a better campaign.

As for SP sort of cornering the market, that's certainly true. If I was currently in the market for a batch of markers for our "tactical" field events, these SP-1s would be all but irresistible. I wouldn't relish supporting Smart Parts, but what is the nearest reasonable option? E-gripped A-5s?

edit: Even if we weren't looking specifically for electros and just wanted to invest in a new fleet of markers for the park, I'm not sure I could justify not going for the SP-1. On wholesale level, it rivals the price of a 98 with ACT, and that marker is nowhere near the SP-1 in terms of features and something as basic as ease of maintenance. It's a sucky situation; I would love to restock with TAC-ONEs, but those are just plain expensive, and the people renting from us wouldn't care what brand it was anyway. I have no interest in one, but our business does. :/

Someone in the PBN thread got it right, SP is the Wal-Mart of the industry.

So eyes are not cool any more in scenario play??? I thought only old outdated guns like AGD's didn't have eyes.....

YOU can't believe it? (LOL) I can. Classic political ploy; denigrate the opposition until numbers are way down, then you can steal the position and make it your own.

Its also a CLASSIC case of the 'victors' writing the history books. Next thing we'll be seeing are the AGD videos 'proving' that a column of air precedes the ball out the barrel, that rifling spins the ball and that low-pressure acceleration gives greater range and accuracy. And after that...well, better vote democratic if you don't want SP in the white house...
