    Lasering a Valve

Anyone know where I could have all the wording lasered off my Classic Valve safely? And for how much? I'd like to have a nice clean look with no words on the surface metal.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Coming from a background in laser engraving, you would have a hard time getting it off so to speak. The lettering on your valve is actually etched into the metal. If you have a classic valve you would be better off trying to bead blast it to a uniform finish. If you have an aluminum valve the only way would be a re-anno.

Just like any other metal. google polishing metal, and you will get directions. It basicly consist of elbow greese, sweat, a polishing wheel, some polishing compound, and alot of time.

Thanks! I'm also assuming you could probably take the whole thing to a machine shop and they could polish it off? Will polishing this type of stuff off effect the valve in any way? I know with X-Valves you have to be very careful with anodizing them as removing a little of the surface material causes issues.

            Thanks,
            Andrew

It's only the inside surface area that you really have to worry about. Polishing a tiny bit off the outside shouldn't affect anything.

yes polishing would work. Laser engraving isn't a deep process. So bead blast or scrub n rub!

only issue you would have is your SN would be gone but if you dont care about the warranty (which in all honesty i dont think i know of anyone i personally know that sent a non electro gun back to the factory).

just make sure to start with a very fine grit so you dont have to buff out a lot of deep scratches. also if you want it mirror polished it will take a while and a lot of steps.
