Tech forum, but yes you can. You don't need any special equipment.

I used a Spyder with an 850psi preset for years with great success!

Don't use a low preset. Use a normal one.

              I had issues with this

before i got my mag. It was a 2k compact and it liked to starve when running on nitro, even with a 800 psi preset. Never had that problem with CO2 though.
being tall is good, except when you're the last one on your team and stuck behind the smallest bunker on the field.

Well, you need to drill a bigger hole in your vertical adapter (the side where the valve spring touches). Or get a different Vert. adapter. And you will need to do the same for your bottomline. And this is a must; Get lighter springs for your valve and striker, otherwise you will have low velocity because the spring that comes with the spyder is made for CO2. And the spyder needs 800psi to operate at its full potential, so if you get a reg keep it at 800. And it wouldn't hurt to get a higher flowing valve and bolt.

Any non-adjustable nitro tank works fine just screwed into the asa of a spyder. Most spyders require high input pressure in the 800 range people talking about. If its modified at all, you can lower this, a lot in some situations. Depending on the internals, it can be made very efficient at lower operating pressures (around 300-400 range). Requires high flowing parts like expalien said. Use a stronger striker spring/weaker valve spring for higher velocities.
