How to touch up a pweter valve?

Alright, here's the deal. I just got a pewter x valve for a new project and it's in OK shape but could use a bit of a buffing. It's got a couple of scratches that are very small... also the X and the sn are a little faded and I am not sure if it's built up grime or the white paint/anno going away. Is there any way to fix that? If pic's are needed I can post but I was just wondering. Any thoughts? Thanks

    *edit: spelling errors again*

Buffing it will just mess up the ano. Theres really not much you can do about scratches in ano except have somethign re-anodized. Im pretty sure Bazooka boy can anodize your valve.

BTW the X and serial no. are lasered in. not paint or anno. I'm pretty sure.

wrong they are laser engraved. not the lasering where the anno turns white.

lol, you just said he was wrong for saying exactly what you said. He clearly stated the X and serial # are laser engraved, not anodized on the valve.

              Fantastic!!!

Great!!!! So that means any darker colors that might be mucking up the X and the serial number are just crud that can be cleaned out??? How might I clean them without damaging the anno...

P.S. I could post an insanely huge image here to show what I mean if needed.

              Thanks for the info!!!!

soap and water with a little elbow grease or some windex will usually do the trick
