    Solenoids like crazy!

So there is a sealed bid auction at work...
there is a box with literally hundreds of SMC solenoids.
the majority of them are WAY too large for (normal ) paintball guns, there are quite a few that look about the size of the ones in the old matrix's hooked up to some massive automation manifolds with 10 of them on a bank.

the smallest ones say 24v on them (will a 9v system even drive them?)... and of course their number which i didnt write down.

How do i figure out if a board will drive them?

    buy'em and cross your fingers!

you can get the numbers and test later.. It's like buying a lottery ticket, if we knew which ones were winners ahead of time it would steal all the fun away.

Get the manufacturer and the numbers and then do a search online or even look on ASP.

If they are 24v I would think they would be worthless to you.

I dont exactly have a lot of spare cash. the box may only cost me $50 at the most... but thats still more than I want to gamble. I have a few days yet.

The large ones... have 1/4 fittings on them rated at 150psi. My mind is spinning at what they could do.

all of the noids I have seen have a part number. if you have the part number you can look up the spec sheet.

                Here we go...

My caliper is set at 1" to show scale.

                Same.

Not much hope at the moment... from what I can tell most paintball gun noids are 5v.
but these are running the same pressure ranges.

Im no electrical engineer... dunno if they can be rigged to work.

they are selling them for how much a box? I would probably buy them up and find someone to resell them to...depending on price.

hehe, you could build a pneumatically controlled robot easily, hook up an air tank, 2 batteries, some relays, and remote control receiver and your set.

too bad they are 24 volt....if they were 12 volt you could sell them on custom truck/car sites for airbag suspension setups.

I wonder what they were originally used for.

What is the bid at? I would be very interested in the whole lot.
Please email me colin(at)deadlywind(dooot)com about it.
