    Trying to help my buddy

Well, unfortunately this Monday my buddy leaves for the National Guard. He'll be gone for 22 weeks completing all his training. He's become my paintball buddy. I introduced him to paintball this spring and he's addicted. He plays with me every weekend using a bt4 combat I sold him. He is a couple years younger than me but he's gotten pretty good pretty fast haha. (His 18th birthday is Monday, the day he leaves for the Guard )

Here's the thing, I told him to give me his gun when he left, and when he comes home he'd be shooting something new (didn't tell him if I'd be upping his gun or getting him new or anything) He told me he likes a couple of the mags I have. So here's where I'm stuck. He's definifitely not an overly aggressive player, but he's by no means a sniper (although he took two people out with two shots today, both mask shots) He's the guy who is camo, head to toe, and will wait for you to mess up. I also asked if he wanted a military look to his gun, thinking that i'd turn his bt into a mp5. He just said to do whatever, which to me, means he'd rather go a different route

So I need to find him a new gun. I'm going to sell my xbox 360 (or trade it for parts) to help build this and maybe his old bt as well. Here's some of things I'm looking at

    1. Must be a mech. (personal reasons)
    2. No cockers. (we both like them, and i might reconsider this by the time he comes back, but for now I just don't know how to fix them if anything were to go wrong.
    3. Prefer not to have to use a 45* elbow (things break all the time)

I have an extra benchmark double trigger and a pf body that I'll be donating to the cause if I build a mag. So looking at all of this, can anybody help me answer these questions

    1. what gun should I get him (a mag would be tight, but also possibly over my $$ limit)
    2. Any idea on upgrades on whatever gun you recommend?

I really hope to welcome him home with something that I put alot of sweat, blood, and heart into. He's a great kid and deserves the best on this one. I will continually update this thread if people are interested in the project/hunt.

Thanks for all the help fellas.

since a mag would be sweet i would search craigslist, i ended up finding a classic mag for only $80, if you find something cheap enough then you could do whatever you wanted to it by changing the body, barrel, grip, valve, etc. thats my two cents tho

Well if you sell your 360, that's probably at least 200 since they're 300 new, plus all the games you're going to be selling since you won't have the 360, plus his gun, i would say that could get you a pretty nice mag. Probably one of the best mechs you can find, otherwise i'd say a mini.

get the ripclip. then get the E-Frame. fast gun, wont break paint, and what he is use to.

            A mag for sure!

Just get one with a ReTro or Emag valve and it'll be cheap. I would personally go with a powerfeed ReTro on an AM/MM rail, with both the benchmark and a stock CF frame. Mmmmmm!!

Throw a decent barrel and that nifty electronic hopper setup on the BT4 and be done with it. Inexpensive, easy to find parts for, rugged as hell, and the best thing...you already own it.

mag or cocker. cockers are not hard to fix after you look at the animated diagrams on line and have a touch of the mechanical gene. i think cockers are easier to diagnose than mags since you can see exactly what is happening but the mags are easier to get down "deep" into them.

if you get a cocker dont get one that is newer than 2003, 2004 may be ok but personally i wouldnt put the cash down for anything newer, and to make it easy stay at least 2000 so he can find parts
