                cool, but whats the point?

not as in i dont think looking cool is the point, moreso, why would you do that to a gun like the a5? there are SO many better platforms to build a gun like that.

Yeah, I've always wondered why he put so much effort into an A-5. I wonder if he's ever shot a mag?

But tippy or not, that thing is awesome. I just want to know how long the pusle is on that valve? I thought available pulse valves had too high of a dwell for paintball applications. Which doesn't matter in this case, due to the bolt action, except for efficiency.

The Lancer isnt metal. Its actually plastic! He made molds out of balsa wood and then used some type of DIY plastic. Here is a link to the build: http://www.undergroundmodshop.com/fo...ad.php?t=14995

Or did you mean Airhogs? Which indeed must weigh a ton.

If I'm not mistaken I saw a post on the MCB forums from the guy who did the mod, and someone mentioned the same thing about the pulse.

Heres the link to the guys site:

And here's the comment from the thread:

The stock PV-1's are suppose to give a 100ms pulse, although at 0 volume, they will pulse at 42ms. Instead of trying to get that lower and start having to guess what it was at, i went with that number (42ms) and adjusted everything around it. The added volume chamber, lower pressure (200psi), and barrel length (all 18 inches are used) were all calculated around it.

The end result was pretty faithful to the calculations, although the CVX valve was a bit of an unknown after doing all the modifications to it, so all in all i would have to say it's definitely not perfect, but it works very well on the cheytac. Although i'm sure it could be executed better with more accurate calculations.
And here's the thread, he posted in there under the name AirHog a few pages into it.

He must like part of the bolt design and part of the body design. Seems like that was all he needed. It also lets him tinker with the pressure, which he doesn't get with a mag.

He also stated that it was a job and the buyer specifically asked to have an A5 as the platform.

But it looks more like building a house around a window rather than building something from a "platform". Still, an excellent house there.
