    Need a new mech.

So, I have a dilemma. I have this minimag here, see:

I like to run it with a vert 3.5 oz tank and pocket hopper. Unfortunately, USAFA paintball no longer fills CO2. My other option is running a large vert HPA tank (no...just...no.), or bottomline. But, Neither of those setups is comfortable. What I'm considering doing is getting a 45/4500 to run with my G3 and a new mech. I'll still use a pocket hopper.

My question is, what mech should I get? I mainly want something compact, low on the chops if possible, reliable, low maintainance, and consistant. Weight isn't much of a factor. Never was. No 'Cockers. Just not interested in timing, shortstroking, and all the other emotional baggage those things have. I'd like it to have 'Cocker threads, that way all my guns can use eachother's barrels. I hate to get rid of my minimag, I really do. I once fired her one handed out the window of a tank I was driving during a scenario and racked up a huge amount of kills, then another time I played a game of hyperball, ran straight to the flag, shot out a few guys with "superior" markers, then ran the flag back. I think I might cry when I sell her, I really do. I had plans for her, now that has all changed, but I just feel like it's time to move on.

So what other semi mechs are:
    -Compact
    -Consistant
    -Have Cocker threads
    -Are reliable and low maintainance
    -Low on the chops

And please don't say pump, I'm gettin one of those soon, but I want a good mech semi as well.

One option you have is to buy a 13ci tank and run it vertically. You'll probably get half the shots, but it should run a bit better on the HPA.

The other option is to run a 22ci tank backwards under the gripframe, Island style.

Why not a ULE mag with lvlx? Atleast you would have spare parts "if" anything goes wrong. My brain is in jell-o tonight so i can't think of cocker threaded mechs right now.

You could always just buy a mech frame with on-off pin and switch between it and your emag lowers.

Why is a bottomline setup on the Minimag uncomfortable? It's essentially the same setup you have on the G3. Also, Dunhams and Dicks Sport Goods will fill c02 tanks.

        -Compact
        -Consistant
        -Have Cocker threads
        -Are reliable and low maintainance
        -Low on the chops

        Check.

You dont need a new mech, just get yourself a remote coil and use the same HPA tank you use for the other markers.

Heres one, there are cheaper ones on Ebay but this one has a good picture:

            I would run a reverse 22.

It will balance the marker nicely and allow you to fire like a pistol.

            Pretty good compromise there.

Otherwise the only other mech with cocker threads that I can think of is an a5 with the barrel adapter swapped out for a cocker one.

Buy a small 5lb CO2 tank and get it filled by the food supply companies or fire stations or whomever.

Buy a CO2 fill station adapter.

              Fill your own CO2 bottles.

Charge people to fill theirs too since the field no longer offers it. Make the money back and then some.

Or you could cry about it. Up to you.

              Definitely not on the A-Team.

I thought about it, but I don't think I'll end up doing it.

michbich: Certainly a possibility, If I see something nice, I may do it.

Dewok: It's uncomfortable because of the location of the forward grip. I've tried a 15* bike grip, X chamber...none of 'em are comfortable, it just feels odd. My hands are too big to use a regular vert ASA. The G3 somehow accomodates my large hands better. And I can only leave base so often, I'm not gonna go to a sporting goods store to fill my tank and come back to USAFA to play. Plus, I can't have a car 'till I'm a junior.

going_home: No remotes! I won't do it! AAAAAH!

olinar: Good idea, but then I have to use a vert grip, and as I stated in my response to mich, that's not comfortable.

GoatBoy: Not really an option. Sorry, just not worth the trouble.

You wouldn't have to use a vertical grip at all, you don't have to do anything you don't want to.

It seems like you're trying to find a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I need a vert grip...You guys seem really biased. Lol. The guys on SO have suggested Blazers, Island style, and even oddballs like ATS and ICE EPIC.

Sure a Blazer would be nice, it all depends on your budget.

I highly recommend ATS!! My AT-10 is the funnest gun I've ever owned.

Also, check out old expansion chambers if you want a fat foregrip. They'd be perfect, and you wouldn't even have to run your airline to them if you went island style - you could go straight to the valve.

well if your dead set on a new mech, I would go blazer. They seem to have just as crazy a following as mags and just as high a price as well.

I personally have never shot one but if i had to do something other than a mag I would do some pps.

It's mainly position. It's too close to the frame. I can't get enough of my hand on it.
