    druid's A5 Camo job

Painting the marker was an epic phail for me. After getting it painted, it started to peel off right away, leaving me to do this to it:

14" Palmer Brass with APEX tip. Cover is glued right to the unported barrel

    Stock

Receiver, red/green dot and Panda X7 hopper cover

14" Freak/AA tip with removable barrel cover

    Whole thing

And as an added bonus, I did my whippersnappers too. Yes, they BOTH have Celtic straps

Definitely no glare. Nice job on the loader.

Throwing this at you you would have to ask how he got it to look so good, but a buddy of mine did this to his A5.

If you are lucky maybe he will post in here and offer some tips...

airbrushed with durocoat paints more than likely. That's the only stuff I've found that holds well on markers

I camo' painted my old A5 too. But I did'nt opt for any special paint or digi camo, I just used camo spray paint. Thats what most military forces actually use anyways, when you look at 'real steel' pictures you can see were the paint wears thin and scratches off some parts with constant use. I prefer the 'used' look really! My main A5 and my soon to be had Minimag will remain unpainted FOREVER tho!

I would rather see someone do this to a speedball gun.

Car paint and Duplicolor and Krylon brands seems to work good on markers. Its what all the guys use on Model98.org. That and if you use a clearcoat it will help the color stay and not chip or fade.

That is actually the result of 3 paintjobs, lol.
First I just tried to camopaint the loader and stock. I used a textured green paint as a base and home-made a few camo stensils for the shapes.

The green ended up way too light so I repainted it with just camo-paint and made a bunch of shapes. Then I found this stuff called VHT NiteShades. It is used to black out car taillights and such so auto specialist places should have it for like $10 a can. It is basically a tinted clear coat (and actually it is kind of a green tint. Read up on color compliments and it makes sense considering it was made for taillights).

I tested it and liked what I saw so I went back to the textured green, added a few shapes (this time going for style more than functionality since the Niteshades gives it kind of an egshell glossiness), and made a simple stensil for my call-handle.

After I saw how it came out I used the same color green only non-textured on the marker and Niteshades'd it.
I like what came out and it's held up for several months of play already.

Nice use of the fabric, only thing is it will absorb paint hits over time and get kind of nasty...

guys, those are nice paint jobs. I wish mine had turned out like them.

Here's what I did to my Pro Classic tonight......

                      Before:

The 2.5" Freak tip is a custom job I commissioned for CQB in "Urban" fields I play on.

                      After:

I simply made "wraps" that are not permanent to the barrel, nor the X-Chamber. They are simply secured with ties and easily removed....
