I don't know if I'm the only one who has noticed a years worth of slumping sales of used paintball equipment (I.E guns being sold on AO and mcarterbrown.com). I've been seeing Tippmann SMG-60's go as low as $120 because people just can't afford the real value of the gun. Then I see some PPS stuff sell once in a while for lower than $400. Has anyone noticed the same? I realize much of slumped sales are contributed in part by the recession. I wanna hear everyone's take.
Will the used paintball market recover?

It's a buyers market right now. I've picked up on some nice deals. My FS items are moving but slowly that's for sure.Comment

The Blame Belongs To Smart Parts
Its called the Ion, and its the reason why many people dont buy quality markers anymore.
Why spend $500.00 on a Xvalved maxed out work of art mech paintball marker when you can spend $165.00 on a brand new Ion that shoots 15 bps ?

the blame doesnt belong to smart parts, it belongs to stupid little kids who got guns from mommy and daddy and decide they want something else and sell their guns for quick cash. they have no value for what they have or for money.Originally posted by going_homeIts called the Ion, and its the reason why many people dont buy quality markers anymore.

Well I have notice that you can steal some vintage markers in the online auctions. But then I consider something like the smg-60 which I always wanted. My first real marker was a 68 Special. But I would only buy something like a smg-60 or something really nice like a fine Xmag, to place on display & covet. With the Xmag I would not want to beat on or trip on something (an ego I could c&@p on all day, no respect compared to the X) & the smg would be a nightmare to use on the field. CO2, 60cal & stripper clips just are a headache. Like I was considering buying a 68 Special not too long ago but the thought having to use siphon tank & the fact that the gun is garbage on the field today changed my mind. I just bought a complete Mag online for $40, an old Rapide for $25 & my very first Cocker for $90 but that was a bundle.
No respect anymore for the old woodsball kings.Comment

Paintball guns have always had crappy resale value.
Newer, better, faster, lighter is always around the corner and 50%+ of paintball choices are trend and/or fashion. Yesterday's hot marker is old news.
My first Cocker lost 40% of its value the day the 1997 version came out and there's really no difference between the two.God gave you a soul.

Your country, a rifle.

I've always known that resale value of paintball markers has sucked. But I'm dying for the market to recover, I got a crate full of paintball gear to sell, mostly collectors stuff.Comment

Recover how? As pointed out the slump is not just economy driven but "obsolesence" driven. At this point its like asking if the market for used computer equipment will ever recover...."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr SuessComment

Post the items with your pricing. What's the worst that could happen??? Who knows you might have something I want!Comment

The collectors stuff is still being sold. Maybe not in the open, but there are 1000+ dollar deals going on all the time.Originally posted by MAGslingerI've always known that resale value of paintball markers has sucked.
