    ule EMAG or VIKING

Well I have around $600 bucks to drop on a new gun and I just cant decide on which one to get. I either want a WARP ule emag or a stock uncut viking(which i would eventually get milled and re-anoed). I want each for different reasons; the emag for its ruggedness and speed and because its AGD lol also i would run a warp on it with a wl ule body and I was also thinking of a couple of cool electrical projects i could do to it, and of course because no one at my field has ever heard of AGD or ever seen a warp and its cool to have a gun that so one else has seen. I want a viking because they are super fast and look extremely awesome in my opinon. Also because compared to guns nowadays its HUGE lol. Everyone at my field will think it sucks because it's huge and old but then ill bust out 30 bps and watch their jaws drop.I basically want a gun no one at my field has seen that will change their opinions about old guns.Yeah i know this is automags.org so you guys will probably go with the emag but i want honest opinions from people who have used both on which one they liked better and which one is the better gun. I basically asking for pros and cons on both. Thanks.

IMO warps are not worth it in the long run.

Please note I have used one for the past 4 years stating this.

A warp is a good crutch. They allow you to keep a low profile. You dont have to be as quick or accurate due to the fact that you can "hang" out of your bunker/tree a little longer. Ie you dont have to snap shoot. It takes away a target (your hopper)

A warp adds a pound to your marker.

For electro, the choice is simple. AKA all the way, so go with the Viking. My personal favorite electro is the AKA Excal. There have been many AGD die-hards that were converted to AKA. Both are quality but the AKA markers are superior.

If you wanted a mech, the Mag is the best by far. No doubt about it.

Personally, the warp is a crutch that in most circumstances is more hassle than its worth. Some swear by them, I am not one of them. They add a layer of complication thats not for me.

Thanks for the input guys keep it coming

Also i have had a warped mag so its not an issue of weight or comfort, i enjoy the warp and i enjoy everyone not knowing what it is If i got an emag i would buy a vertical ule body aswell as a wl ule body so i would not be stuck with a warp only gun. So its only a matter of which gun is better lol

I have had 3 mags, all mechanical but I havent owned any AKA guns and really wanted to know what im getting myself into when buying an emag or viking as in pros/cons of each. Thanks

Personally, I would go with the emag.

Ive owned many emags, and 2 vikings as well as an excal.

While I haven't played extensively with both, I have shot both.
I prefer the emag over the viking simply because it feels like you are shooting something.

Hard to explain, but the emag is just such a beast.

I never will need anything more than 10 bps, I will never be annoyed with carrying a 10 pound set up and am contempt with a mag any day of the week.

Your choice but either way will be a good.

              Pro and Cons huh?

Since an un-milled Viking is about the same weight as a ule Emag there is no weight issues and with you running a warp weight does not seem to be a deterrent for you.

The obvious one is that the Viking will definitely be more air efficient so if scenarios are your thing or you just don't like filling up your tank after every couple games the Viking would be the better choice.

I like Emags, well, any mag for that matter, because they are (as I like to say) modular. You can change them around depending on your mood or style of play. The Viking only has one set up and the only thing people do to change them is to mill and custom anodize them but in the end they all look similar.

If you go with a Viking you might want to keep a fresh battery in your gear bag since they can sometimes be a little finicky on battery voltage, it can effect the dwell and how the gun will perform. The Emag can charge on your way to the field.

They are both quality and precision built so no need for goopey lubes, a little oil in the asa and you are good to go.

I own many many guns and have shot all of them. I really don't see the real hype on AKA products, don't get me wrong they are great just as AGD is! I just don't see the leaps and bounds ahead that the AKA faithfuls go on about!

I have E/Xmags, DMC's Vikings, Excals, Cyborgs, Angels and a few custom electros in my arsenal and if I want to play electro I grab my EP Emaggo first. To me this is the smoothest gun I have ever shot or owned. I need to give the Cyborg a little more play time to form my final opinion but one of the Emaggos is always my first choice if planning a day of electro play.

              Just my 2 cents worth.

For what it is worth, I usually shoot pneumags as a general rule.

You will be happy with either choice since both are the highest quality (imo) mass built markers ever produced.

Good Luck and enjoy your venture into the electro world.
              ......You know you want one!!

while I have not had to work on any of my vikings they do look to be quite a bit more complicated than any mag. It could just be me, but I think the emag/mag in general is alot more simplistic.

AKA viking all the way. I have owned them both and by far the easy to use and more reliable is the viking. Dont get me wrong i am a mag guy at heart and allway will be. But pound for pound in the Elcmarker section the viking will allways win. Unless it comes to personal feeling. In which chase none of us can help you.
                  My vote AKA

I think I have come to my decision. Im gonna get both lol

i cant decide between the two and want the other for different reasons. Im going to first by an emag and use it primarily as a warp setup, so when i want to shoot warp (or mechanical) ill go to the emag. Once i get an emag im gonna start saving to buy an unmilled 04 viking and use it as my main vertical electro. Later on ill get some fsp milling done to it when i save up some more money. And eventually ill get them both anoed a sick color. Maybe some kind of orange for the emag and gloss black for the viking with lime green eyecovers and accents.

                        Awesome choice on buying both!!

Why struggle with tough decisions, just buy both.

I disagree. The Xvalve is very similar to the AKA cartridge based system in that you never mess with the most complicated part of the marker. Thats a huge plus on both of the markers IMO. The fact that Mags are still sear-trippers and you have to tune the bolt are a drawback though. If youre going to go electro I strongly lean twards the AKA stuff. Ive sold every Emag Ive owned (8 or so) to make more room for Vikings. I like my Mags mech.

Forgive my ignorance, but I've poked around on akaog.org for a while and can't seem to find anything that explains exactly what the differences are between a Viking and an Excaliber. I understand the Excal was an earlier gun.

So, what's "better", a Viking or Excal?

                              What are the major differences?
