    name the pistol?

ok so in the movie "Underclassman" they use a paintball pistols that look like a real semi pistol just with a weird suppressor kind of on the front. they look to shoot something smaller than the standard 68 cal balls but still a pretty large bore.

were these one offs for the movie to fit the prop requirements or is it something that is produced

i think that is the right one, it looks like a real pistol but its supposed to be a paintball gun in the movie (even has a clip to it)

rap4 makes some pretty realistic-looking paintball pistols. The caliber is smaller, though, .43 caliber.

None of them look like what you saw, though. I'd guess it's a mock-up for the film.

Hollw Man had the actors running around with PGPs for tranq guns.

It's always fun to see where paintball stuff has made it into Hollywood productions.

I'm always more amused at how Hollywood misrepresents paintball. I saw a trailer for one paintball movie (the name escapes me) in which all the paintball guns sounded like silenced machine guns when they fired. In another TV show (I want to say it was CSI), the cops tracked a suspect to a paintball field where they were allowed to walk onto the field during play without masks, and when they distracted the suspect, he was shot and immediately took off his mask while still in the field of play. Rediculous.

ya on one of the tv shows a couple years back that ran for only a season or so they used a spyder clone, no barrel, no gas on it as a tranq gun for close range like in a lab, i saw it and laughed

ya rawbutter i remember that csi and was annoyed a bit.

but i guess it is just a mock up, i wish they were real cause that would be a cool little pistol to have, more so from the size aspect than the realistic side (personally i hate milsim but if it gets my marker lighter and smaller what ever)

Not fake but still TV... from the looks of the Ads I see on A&E "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and crew are now rocking Tippman X7's. I wonder if they use a chronograph That dude is just wierd looking, I must say.

Yea I don't think I've ever seen a TV show or movie get it right while doing a paintball scene. Although my favorite is from the British sitcom "Spaced." While they certainly didn't get enough consulting in the name of safety.... it's pretty funny. Spend a day of your life watching the episodes as I recall they are all on the net somewhere. Soo funny.

I can't check which video on Google video/YouTube will be the best to watch since my work thinks it'd be counter productive for people to be able to go there. I think the above link is the best of the lot.

ya i think dog and his guys are carrying pepper balls now, they looked like a5s but i have not kept up with the new stuff for so long i didnt even know there was an x7 now.

and as to chronographing pepperball guns, if your dumb enough to need to be shot with one you dont get the courtesy of it being below 300fps

O I know... the chrono comment was a joke. I only saw the preview ads so it was a guess. I thought I saw fake magazines and such and so I assumed they were X7's but you could put them on either... lol just imagine if you chop with a pepperball. That'd be a bad day I'm sure. Anyone watch the Spaced clip?

I'm pretty sure the law enforcement agencies are still using A-5s with under-bottle CO2.

                        Suprized Dog isn't using a FN303

I think Jackie Chan uses an Autococker as a tracking gun or something... can't remember what movie.

You can see the clip here.

There is an even funnier scene in Johnny Nemonic where it's clearly a marker and he ditches the back bottle and the barrel and it's supposed to still work. Keanu...ever the actor

theres also a paintball scene in the movie Bachelor Party Vegas, I actually helped on that set back in 2003 or 04 it was shot at a local field here we tried to keep them from shooting to many scenes where they took the masks off in game and any scene where someone was supposedly getting shot at they were required to have masks. The funny thing was that all the paintball hits on the actors were done with sponge balls dipped in paint as they were not allowed to have any of the actors actually getting shot at!! Also it was rental Tippman 98s that we used though I think my xmag made a cameo Idk never caught the full scene before.
