Someone told me yesterday that i would not be able to play in a lot of scenario events and tournaments because I plan to purchase a Tac one with LVL 10, X-valve, and ULT. Can anyone here confirm this? Or have a story of being declined access to a field because of their marker?

Uhhhh?
From time to time on the site we hear of these things but look at this thread here on AO.....
Paintball Talk is the main forum for Automags.org. Here is where we talk about the sport of paintball in general and make announcements relating to the forum and website.
I Know in CFOA you can use any mag as log as it meets with there trigger rules....just read into the rules and ask organizers but don't limit yourself by passing up on a premier mech gun.

according to the PSP rule book (i asked lane myself over on PBN), mechanical guns that are one shot, one pull, are not subject to a between shots time limit (ie rof).
a legal RT/RTP/X should be allowed everywhere."because every vengeful cop with a lesbian daughter, is having a bad day, and looking for someone to blame"

Rules vs reality
As far as scenario play goes I have yet to be at a game where there was much enforcement of rules other than an attempt to chrono and pulling someone who is using full auto. I think if you are going to play a legit Semi Auto with one pall per trigger pull you are OK most of the time IMO.
Now things like the Ultimate Woods Ball League are restricting the RT effect and if they they see you have a lot of reactivity in your trigger you may get told to use a different marker but doesn't a ULT Kill the reactivity of the Trigger??

This is just another prime example of the fact that people do NOT understand the difference between a Tippmann RT and Automag RT. An RT Mag will not violate any 1 shot = 1 pull when properly setup & using most preset tanks. A ULT'd Mag can be walkable and still fall in this category, and it isn't something easily changed on the field, like the Tippmann...Steve Shuey , Team Crimson Reign

I play about four or five scenarios a year and have not had any problems in Texas or Florida with an RT'ing X-valve. It's set for RT on demand, not constant.
I was judge punched once for shooting 19 bps when the limit was 15 bps. I didn't protest, but the ref called the head ref on the radio to tell him it was an RT that couldn't be adjusted and the head ref said "RT's can be adjusted". Which was correct. That was the day my valve and bottle reg all settled in. After I turned the pressure down, I was at 15 bps. The problem is that only the field refs carried the shot counters, so it can be hard to set the reg just right. The ref might not have noticed except I was pulling on a team mate with one hand and keeping down three of the opposition with the other, without cover.
The rules at scenarios are usually determined by the producer (and their insurance), which may or may not be the field owner. The usual rule is no full auto and rof is limited to 15 or 13 bps. Since mag RTs are not nearly as prevalent nor consistent as electros and tippy "RTs", they don't usually get a lot of attention.

Yea... what they said... the only official "wide" rule against it is for, what "scout"?!? in the new UWL where it specifically outlaws anything other than the classic valves or the like... As for other fields: Personally, unless I had absolutely no choice, I would never play at a field that's so inept as to not know how the markers out there actually work. Hell ANY marker can be made to go full auto... and ANY marker can be made to go single pull single shot (notice I said any MARKER... not any TRIGGER frame.)
P.S. I've played plenty of scenarios around the New England area and I haven't run into any issues... then again I run ULT pneumags using 800 PSI crossfire reg's... so my markers don't RT in any way shape or form... but could pull that magic 20+ if my fingers could (which they can't)
