What is the proper way to put a reg on a tank?

I recently shipped out a gun package and was made to take the reg of the tank by the USPS before shipping.

I have shipped tanks before but never had to take the reg off.

i want to make sure that my buyer can put the reg back on the tank safely.

Guys chime in on this one please. i would love to hear the diffrent ways that people do this so to have options.

with muscle. I tighten them with a strap wrench, but that is about it. I can always remove mine if I need to. no tape, locktite, oil, grease, etc.

              And what about CO2 tanks?

I was reading this thread and became curious about CO2 tanks.

I have several N2 tanks that I leave without locktite, just as you guys described but could I do the same (safelly, of course) with an old 7oz CO2 tank, for example?

I'm asking this because I need to install a siphon on one of my tanks.

              Thanks!

Thanks! I'm also afraid of the guys who work at the local fields. Some of them are a little dumb, you know? LOL Remember that a N2 tank if filled from it's niple while the CO2 tanks are screwed and unscrewed when filling.

Since were on the subject of tanks lets also put the golden rule up for new players that might not know that this is a danger.

NEVER PUT OIL OR LUBE INTO YOUR TANK OR FILL NIPPLE. IT WILL GO BOOM!!!

Just thought I would add that because you dont want tobe that guy.

                      I was almost that guy.

according to DXS, hpa regs should screw in to 40 ft lbs. that's not much, about hand tight and a good grunt.

If you install the siphon(or take the valve off for any reason), please clear out the safety vent hole. It will be blocked with red locktite.
