    Which gen MicroMag?

I picked up a MicroMag this past week. I have read people mentioning both different generations of MM's and also some being clones. I have checked the body for any markings and don't seen anything. How do I tell what it is? The frame that came with it says MicroMag on it, but was told it was a Benchmark frame? Also on the back of the frame is says "GUN f/x". The reg is an ANS, but the valve is a MicroMag, which would leave me to beleive it may be an original MicroMag. If I need to post of pics, I can. One last question regards the front vert adapter. The marker did not come with one and was wondering if the one still sold by PTP would fit?

Sorry if they are noob questions, but I am not really all that familiar with MicroMags. Would have asked prior to buying, but thought I was getting a decent deal and didn't want anyone going out and looking for it... lol.

Thanks for any and all help offered.

    Picts would help.

Big differences in generations are: feeneck and barrel. If it's a Vertical then it's one of the later ones.

there were some dust black vert adapters in the bst, dunno if theyre still available. but yea the one's from PTP should work fine.

from the sounds of it, yours is a genuine PTP micro, there are 5 generations available, with a 6th coming.

1st gen has a short fixed barrel
2nd gen has a removable barrel, i think the ball detent screwed on
3rd gen has a milled in detent
4th gen has a "tail"covering the top of the valve
5th gen is a vert feed
(i think, not exactly sure on those)

pics will help identify for sure tho, plus everyone likes seeing pics of mags:P

I'll try to get pics up later tonight. From the description Binumber is giving it sounds like I have a gen2. The detent bolts onto the left side of the body, the barrel is removable, but it is not a vert feed. I'll have to look for the dust black vert adapters, the only ones I saw wer for standard AM/MM rails.

This should be the VERT ASA that you need for your MM if it's a true PTP MM ~> http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...3/IMG_1739.jpg

It can be found over in "MiniMag"s "Summer Sell" thread.

            Finally found the camera:

Included pic of the front part as the area with a screw is in a 45degree angle. Seems odd.

that isn't the screw that goes up there. It should be a standard hex screw holding the vert adapter.

I would guess 3rd edition but others can answer better than me.

That's second generation, after the fixed barrel model. Good luck with the double ball detent!

home depot carries screws that u can use for the asa, not sure what thread exactly tho, think its the same thread as the frame screws (might be a bit larger tho), just with a different style head (hex with flat sides)

I don't think that's considered a double detent. Those are just the screws to hold the detent. The detent itself is the lever type thing in front of the screws. There is nothing wrong with it really, I don't think you should have any issues with it, I never did with mine. Just make sure there is a spring in it (it shouldn't flop around). I think that might be considered a 3rd gen?

There is only one actual detent, the two screws just hold it on.

I'm proud owner of one.. I purchased mine about a two month ago with a x-valve and also stock micro valve.. It very reliable, light, easy to take apart, cocker treaded barrel and pro team still has all the replacement parts available.. But since I got it I did a few cosmetic mods: vert 90* Logic frame, Vert asa, and bike grip.. Here's some pix:
