    The Gauntlet

In the past I've mentioned having to "Run the Gauntlet" back in the day as a penalty for various offenses. This is some old skool family paintball from one of MY runs back in 1997. You had to cross the road twice (across and back) without a marker.

That reminds me of the first paintball guns my brother and I got about 15 years ago. He got two Stingrays for his birthday, but just one mask. At the party each of us donned the mask and tried to make it from one side of the back yard to the other while two others tried to tag us. That was my first experience getting nailed in the ear. We were probably shooting about 320 fps. Ah, the good old days.

God I remember that game. I had just gotten my first marker, a Tippmann pro/carbine, and we each got 3 balls to make it 20 feet with the person standing 15 feet away with the gun. Then took my gun to a real field and found that it was shooting [cough]410[/cough]. Ah, the good old days. I think my welt from a break at 15 yards was a 6" circle.

Believe it or not we crono'ed to 280 here, but the hoppers were full. In that line of markers which are mostly stingray II's, a spyder, a VM68 and a '97 Cocker on CO2! I've probably done that gauntlet run about 15 times. It's not as bad as you think. I made it through untouched at least the last 5 times or so.

Haha, I remember when I started playing, refs would use that as punishment in private games.

The local woods field does gauntlet runs for people who have birthdays or special occasions. lol

Oh and they set them up two-sided, and inevitably some shots find their way to the other line.

we referred to it as "The Walk"

All the refs at the local field would stand down field and have to walk back and forth in the open with 4 people shooting full hoppers at them.

This was in the time of all mech guns, and they were about 20-30 yards away

This was still the best way to get any ref used to getting shot in my book - the ones that were never made to do the walk still have fear of getting hit too much and don't paintcheck nearly as well I don't think.

Yeah, most of the time now the bachelor won't do it.

And styg, i never did that, but i don't mind getting hit,i just try to still avoid it when reffing. I try to get hit as little as possible when i can't shoot back but if someone calls for a check and i can hear them i still run out as fast as i can.
