Ball detent stripped on my cocker

Can anyone here fix the hole for the ball detent on my freeflow cocker, maybe like rethread it? it kinda stripped. It is the wire detent.

it is a shame that happened to such a nice cocker, but if you find the thread specifics it shouldn't be too difficult to buy a helicoil for it, or find another way to redo the threads.

if it's a wire detent, the only thing holding it in is one screw in back right? if that hole is stripped, you could always retap it with a larger size, and buy a screw from a hardware store.
but if it's not horribly stripped, maybe just put some plumbers tape on the screw
