    Marker Collecting and Selling Habits...

Whats the longest you've ever had a marker (and what marker) ?

Whats the shortest you've ever had a marker (and what marker) ?

How long does it take after you make a new acquisition (whether buying or trading) for you to grow tired of the new marker and put it on the chopping block ?

Do you find over time your tastes in markers changed because of changes in your playing style ?

I tried fast and furious high end electronic markers one right after another.
Then the paint bills got to me and I tried pump for a while.
I absolutely have no use for stock class whatsoever.
Open class is ok but I'm just no good at it.
So then I went back to mech mags.
And now I'm starting to look at lower end electronic markers.
I just traded for an SP1 and I really like it.
First Smart Parts marker I've ever liked.
Never thought I'd like a single trigger electronic marker but I think it might be a keeper.

I have this little problem with wanting to modify things I own. The thing is that I liked the things pretty good before changing them and hate them afterwards.

Had my BKO for a few months and tried to intellifeed it to a warp hurting the electronics and having to have someone fix them.

Had my minimag for a few months and managed to think I could pneumag it myself. I f'ed up the change over and instead of just reverting it I traded it up to my Viking.

I've now had the viking for about 2 years but haven't played in a while so I can't say I haven't thought about selling it but I did things to it that I actually liked what I did for once and kept it.

Also my first gun was a Pro/Carbine that I played with as long as I've played with the Viking, I've just had the viking longer.

4 years is my longest and it is my Tippmann 98 Custom. My first gun and I'll always keep it.

For a time I was going through electros in less than a month each, but I discovered none of them struck my fancy. Around my 3rd or 4th electro I picked up an old RT classic, fell in love, ditched electros, and got a RT Pro instead.

A few months after having the RT classic, I traded it for a Phantom which I've had since May.

I've also just recently sold a PMI Trracer that I'd had for a year or so to compensate for some older Sheridan Brass.

I've also gone through 3 cockers, no one lasting longer than 2 months. I still like them, but I just don't keep them and I don't know why; but I'm looking for something stroked to quench my cocker appetite.

Of the 4 guns I have, none are moving fast. If one goes, it'll be the Phantom but only for a Ghost.

The longest ive owned a marker is 10 years. It was my first gun & I still have it. Its a Bob Long Millenium spyder.

The shortest was something like 15-20 minutes. It was a spyder compact. The story there is I bought it used. Went to a buddys house. While I was there his younger brother came home disapointed. When I asked he said. "so-so was going to sell me his spyder. He sold it to someone else beofer I got there." I sold him the compact for less then he was going to pay for the other gun & less then I paid for it.

I ussually dont really get tired of the guns I buy. Im very picky & look for specific guns when buying. I can never sold a gun (above spyder excluded). I have given a couple to my cousin a BL millenium & a aka revenge. The revenge I couldnt get rid of fast enough.

My first gun EVER is in my woods right now lol a blue Brass Eagle stingray II. My second gun that I bought a year after the sting ray is my tippmann 98 custom, I've had and used it for nearly 10 years now, and just now replaced the valve assembly. It should be good for another 10 years, but it won't get as much use as it used too. I just bought a ULT tac-1 last Christmas, and then it turned into a pneu-tac, then a RT'ing tac, then just in the last 3 weeks I bought some e-mag lowers for it. I think it's going to stay like this for a while, at least until I buy a new body for it :) I absolutely love this gun, and I think it will be the gun I use for the next ten years honestly.

Longest one I've owned is the first gun I ever owned. Got it after only 3 short years of playing and that was 12 years ago I believe. It's a BE Talon. SWEET!

Shortest was a VFTactical Cocker that was basically brand new, never been fired. Picked it up off a CL score one day and had it traded and shipped out within a day.

Does that count markers that I traded for and then traded again before they ever got to me and even had the person I got it from ship it to someone else?

Bought a Splatmaster in June of 1988 and still use it on the field.
                  That'd be 21 1/2 years.
Bought about 85 different markers since and never sold any of them. The most recent was July this year. A '99 PTP Sleeper with a leaky LPR that I put a CCM pump kit on.

The longest I've owned a marker would be my first gun, an A-5 that I've had for about a year and a half. I'll probably be selling it though since I don't use it anymore.

The shortest would be my TPX, I had it for about 3 months before I decided it didn't fit my style and traded it for a Karnivor. It's currently in the mail for said trade :)

The longest time I've owned a marker is my reverse valve Minimag...about 10 years and counting. Got it in '99 as a birthday present from my dad. i begged and begged him for it...when i saw it i thought it was the sexiest looking gun. I will probably never sell it.

There were 2 shortest times I've owned a gun. First was when i was first getting into paintball...I went into Walmart and bought a Brass Eagle Raptor. Not my finest moment but i was a noob. I got it home and aired it up and it broke on me. My mom, who didnt mind that i had a paintball gun, helped my out by taking it back to Wally World and pitched a fit that they sold this gun to me being that i was 13. Needless to say they returned it no questions asked. LOL. I took the money and bought a spyder.

The second was earlier this year I bought a new Tippmann X7. It was an impulse buy and I was trying to find a scenario type marker set up that had that milsim look. Plus that whole make it look like whatever military rifle you want type thing. I got it did some test firing with it...looked it over...and wasn't impressed. Yeah it had a cool look and realistic feel but just didnt fit me. I was used to playing tight in bunkers and having a huge gun really didnt do it for me. Next day I listed on craigslist. I got what I paid for it.

What I do is buy stuff as cheap as possible whenever possible. Wait a while. Then, I sell what ever I can on Ebay and mark it as 'rare' with an insane price. Suckers go cRaZy and it's all $$$$$$ for me.

I have my F1 Illustrator from whenever they were new and before automags came out.

I still use some of my pre-'93 classic mag parts, its just the body, barrels and valve were 'upgraded'.

The shortest time was a uni-body phantom that I sold after a year to pay for the Illustrator.

I regret loaning my first marker, a piranha LB, to my brother-in-law, from which it has become lost.

I don't buy and sell much because I try to play with every marker I own for one purpose or another. I still don't have a stock class pump or mil-sim anything, but I have different markers for whatever mood I'm in.
