    Paint getting smaller??

What's the deal with this?? I played all last summer and the summer before using my .689 and .687 barrels, and now when I try to size my favorite paint it just slides into the .687 like a loose woman! I don't have a freak setup or another barrel kit for my mag just yet (I almost bought one of those kaner kits at Christmas time... I'm kicking myself for not doing it now) so I had to buy a new barrel for playing next week if I wanted any sort of accuracy. In order to chose the right bore size for my new barrel, I took a handful of my favorite paint that I freshly bought (fireball... I believe it's made by pro-caps and is equivalent to their premium paint) and sized it with some of my calipers, and it's coming in at like .680 and .682!!! What in the world?? It's like 68 caliber paint is ACTUALLY 68 caliber now!!

I think there was a thread about this a month or 2 ago. Alot of people are saying that out here in the Rockies I can't get away with anything smaller than 687

yeah I recall seeing another thread about tiny paint on here. I've seen them popping up quite a bit the last 6-8 months on a few forums, but up here in the great white north things havn't changed much as far as sizing for a long while. For the most part i'm using a .686, sometimes switching up to .689.

all of my draxxus (procaps) field exclusive paint averages a range of .686-.687, while some of the new Kee field exclusive paint we've been testing has all bored an average range of .688-.689

I just bought some new procaps stuff, and it's literally showing up as .682-ish. I just bought a .682 barrel for the stuff because all I shoot is fireball. hopefully this barrel isn't "too" small though

The paint in my area has been on the small end for years. No idea why.

Right, last year I had to throw a .682 on my cocker to keep my balls in.

                LMAO!!!

I had to buy a .678 Freak insert after playing one winter game. I'm with you, but hoping this is only a winter thing and as soon as it warms up and the humidity kicks in, I can use something other than my Freak with the .678. It's a shame to have other barrels just laying around.

MANN, where did you get a .675 barrel? I could definitely use one since I don't mind playing when it's 10 degrees out!

I'm in Montana, and haven't been able to get paint bigger than .682 for at least 4 years. I don't know if it's the brands or what (mostly ProCaps stuff and DXS, but even Marbs require a .682 back.). This is extremely evident when all you shoot are Cockers and Snipers!

I was hoping to make use of my sweet PE Shaft barrel (.689) on my Mag (should be here on Thursday ). But now I'm not sure I won't have to still use a smaller bore.

I've always been of the opinion that on an open bolt gun, paint to bore match really doesn't matter all that much, as long as you're using quality paint - at least from an accuracy standpoint.

On a closed-bolt, if you overbore, you get +/- 60 fps over the chrono...

I have an unused kaner kit laying around still if you want it, shoot me a PM. Otherwise your best bet would be to pick up a CP one piece for the money.

Don't feel bad. I DID buy a Kaner kit, and then realized that the smallest bore (.685) is larger than any of my paint, so I had to sell it. You probably would have done the same thing.

                            ...or this

Seriously though? A .667 insert? Is that really necessary?

Man, that Eigenbarrel looks really attractive... If I didn't just order my .682 lapco, I probably would have considered going with that one.
