Bobbed Tail G3 Project

Here is my latest project. I took a basic G3 IQ marker and bobbed the "tail" off of it. LOL. I also did a "melt job" on her and smoothed all of the edges down on the marker to give the gun a slightly smoother look and a better feel. After this I coated the marker in Armor Black Cerakote and applied Dry Film Lube to all of the internals and HPR. She weighs in at just 1.12 pounds with the barrel and battery installed! I will also be installing a APE board, Tech T Bolt, and new grips as soon when they arrive.

It is a ceramic based liquid applied with a fine tip HVLP application gun.

Wow, that looks really nice! Did you have to do any modifications to the internals, when you cut the back off? Can you also show us a pic of it, from it's back?

Actually I like the tail and snatch grip on the G3.
Many people end up leaving the snatch grip off because its one more step
to lube the bolt.

No bobbing the marker did not require any internal modifications however I did apply our dry film lubricants to the internals and HPR.

Sorry I did not get a base line weight but it would weight the same as any other stock G3 I would think. I am working on a second G3 project now and I will get a base line weight before I start milling on it. This up coming project will be a lot lighter than this one as I will be milling off all the non essential material I can. I will be posting the results of this project once it is finished.

It's a sweet looking finish for sure. Is it an oven cure, if so what temp?

It comes in both air cure and oven cure formulas. I personally use the oven cure myself as it is slightly more durable and cures in 3 hours while the air cure takes 24 hours. It is a very nice coating but it is also very expensive at $45.00 for a 4oz bottle!
