    Automag upgrade path

I have a classic Automag with gray powerfeed body, level 7 bolt, 14in Dye boomstick barrel, carbon fiber single trigger frame, and classic s/s valve. I use nitro not co2.

My question is what should I upgrade first?
    1. The frame to a intelliframe.
    2. Level 10 bolt
    3. ULE trigger kit.

I like the body and the valve due to the abuse it can take, but want to shoot faster with fewer chops. What would you upgrade first and in what order?

If you are chopping then the best upgrade to me would be the level 10. Its hard to shoot fast when you are making paint soup...

Then I would go with an intelli frame. The double trigger will lighten the trigger pull. Which should increase your rof.

Then the ULT. I'm not positive your classic valve can even use a ULT without modifications.

Level 10 first. Then put an RT on/off in there. ULT's have been used in classic valves, but the don't work that well and there's a lot of potential for chuffing. RT on/offs work great (I've used them extensively in classics), and they'll cut the trigger pull by about 1/2 and make for a very "snappy" trigger. Then I'd go with the Intell after that.

I actually am on the same road as you.

I picked up an Intelli this week, but I only did it because I got a great deal and didn't want to pass on it.

Next up for me is definitely the Level 10.

I don't know if I'll even bother with a ULT or RT on/off because I plan on getting an XValve eventually, and I'll put a ULT in that.

The classic valve really can't recharge fast enough to make those upgrades worth it in my opinion. But I'm not super concerned about the trigger pull weight. I just don't spray that much paint when I play.

My personal upgrade path was originally going to be:

          Level 10
          Intelliframe
          ULE Body
          XValve

At the end of that I'd basically have replaced the entire marker and could make a spare just by picking up a rail, sear and maybe a few minor pieces like a vert ASA, macroline elbows, etc...

Level 10 is your best upgrade, a must have for all automags.

Thats how it happens. I bought 1 Minimag now i have 5 All from left over parts from the last one. "Well i just need a rail and frame then i have another one." or "Well i have all these parts just sitting here i feel bad if i didn't do anything with them, and i could use an X-valve..."

Cheapest way is just go find a used RT Pro ULE with Xvalve (or Tac One) on Ebay or the forums.
You will spend far less money buying the whole marker, than you will buying one part at a time.

Sure it's cheaper, but where's the fun in that?!

Putting it together a piece at a time is the best part! It's also the single greatest pleasure of owning an automag: every part is a functional upgrade and everything is so interchangeable you really can do a full upgrade piece by piece.

You can piece it together from what you get off a full "scrap" gun.

I'd go full X-valve before anything else. That'll get the LV10 bolt out of the way too. Don't worry about the durability. Both the ULE body and Xvalve are made from high quality materials and can take plenty of damage. Also check out the ReTro valves, which are part stainless.

Forget the frame and ULT. Your CF frame is the lightest frame available for a mag to my knowledge. It's still quite difficult to walk a ULT. Also, the ULT is finicky at best. When troubleshooting a Mag, one of the first things to do is swap the darn ULT for a standard RT on/off. I've seen them nicely tuned and working reliably. Then the weather changes and it's freaking out.

I've never seen the weather affect a ULT.
A Low pressure front will turn an Angel into a blender though, I've experienced that several
times here in Florida. Did I mention I dont use Angels any more lol.
I've owned several mech mags that had the level 10 and ULT
tuned real sweet, and in combination with a fast recharging high output reg psi 900,
                      walking is easy to do.
