I'll take a picture of our custom made field sweepers when I go in tomorrow. It's always great to bounce some idea's around with fellow field op's.
Best way to pick up ReBalls?

Just thought of this as another side note in my brain.... What about trying out one of the yard sweepers for a test run. I'm sure someone in the area has one and would let you borrow it for a test run and since they aren't really used except for one time in the fall a homeowner who has one should let you "borrow" it for a good bit of time but even so they can be had for under $100 it looks like. I'd look into getting one or two of those and a couple of plastic snow shovels and call it good to start with. You may want to consider making a frame out of 2x4's with some of the 1/4" square hole "hardware cloth" in the bottom of it... make it wide enough to fit a push broom head across it's width. Could to use it to help brush down the balls and filter off any dirt just pouring them across it. Then use it outside if need be with it propped up on some concrete blocks and hose them off with the garden hose and such if the weather is nice.
Sweep the field, pour the balls across the "filter" brush them off, put em into buckets/pods/etc.
I would try to push type first since you can better see and the fields they would be used on are flat and level and you won't be driving a lawnmower around on it.
Since it has wheels which would like to bounce the balls out of place and such you could see about adding a bit of a funnel attachment to the front that would make a wider path of pick up as well as direct them off of the wheels.

hmmmmm....
Now this is something to consider as well... If you were to pick up a blower/vac then you could use it for filling the bunkers and collecting up the reballs. Look at this set up. suck the balls up, and they go straight into a basket. You would only need a power cord and a catch tank to put the balls in. You could put a trashcan in a wagon and tow it around and you'd also be cleaning up the field of other small debris.
hmmm...

They have this machine that picks up tennis balls. I would use that principle instead of the ammo ups. Time to start inventing.
edit: oh, and if you're worried about a static charge from a vacuum, why not throw in a degausser from an old CRT monitor on it?Comment

I'm thinking a quick wash down with the water hose will kill the static charge quick enough and wash off any other crap as well. The only issue would be drying them but good open air bin system should allow that as well.
If that's too wet for you then a spray of water from a squirt bottle would kill the charge off as well and not get the balls to be unusable. The static charge takes just a very small amount of moisture to dissipate it.

ooooooooooo I think I got it, bounce dryer sheets!!! hellz ya!!.
Also, if you have a bunch of aluminum foil in there, that should kill the static charge too. In fact, the charge is probably from the fact it is in a plastic bucket. just ground the darn thing.
But dryer sheets first!Comment

Lol @ DM
I'm guessing you've never done yard work. When using the leaf sucker attachment on the leaf blower, it sends the leafs through a built in mulcher. Sending reballs through it will shread them and eventually destroy the blowerComment
