    Old twist lock barrel identification.

A co-worker of mine asked me to give him a value estimate on some of his old gear. Most of it was pretty run of the mill, but this one barrel he had has got me stumped...

So, any idea on what it is?

does it have some funky twisted porting inside of it? Looks similar to one a buddy had on his F1 Illustrator many many years ago...

Worked so well he took it off his gun mid game and checked it into the woods.

It was found about 6 years later by one of the refs, tested, and dumped in the garbage can

No porting, nice and smooth on the inside. The owner says this is his favorite barrel for his gun. So no unusually off performance. Of course this is compared to a stock barrel, a stock crown point, a cut down stock barrel, and a unported J&J brass.

I love the full fluted look. I wish more barrels had that look.

Was White Wolf Airsmithing in business when that thing was bought/made?
The muzzle brake looks alot like something WWA would do.

Pretty sure this is pre-white wolf era. At least before he was making barrels.

His gun has a surprisingly low serial number, in the low 800's. Supposedly it's made the trip home a few times in it's life to get all the big updates. Currently sporting a foamy bolt.

I don't even remember a barrel like that. Its early nineties because it has the 'L' notch. We went to the 'T' notch mid nineties or so.

How bout an old allen? It's the only people I can think of besides wwa with that kind of porting.

You know where you might get a good answer? MCarterbrown's rare and old forum. Those guys are a bunch of antique paintball junkies.

I posted there first. Heck, when I hang out there I'm usually one of the people who identifies weird stuff like this. This one totally stumped everyone there. I was very surprised.

Now I'm tempted to see if I can make a deal to buy this off of my co-worker. I've been missing my old mag (had to be sacrificed to the "I need a car to get to work" fund a few years back), and I've been wanting another. Though he likes the gun enough that he wants to keep it around just for those few times a year he feels like playing, since he knows it will work when he pulls it out of storage. I doubt I could offer him enough to make him part with it.

I'm wondering if some local guy machined it up years ago. I'll ask around with the old timers in my area.

My co-worker will really get a kick out of the fact that the guy who made his gun has never seen a barrel like that! It should make his day when I tell him tomorrow. Thanks.

One local player believes it's an I&I house brand "sniper" barrel. Totally plausible. Anyone have an old catalog to double check?

I said this on MCB, but it reminds me of those old WWA Freak Tips I've seen on Freak barrels before.

                          EDIT:

                          Possibly similar barrels?
