wow, what a weekend first off.
I played for team tip/ppig this weekend, and intended to play the whole weekend with a pump. Well... here's the story about me and guns this weekend.
I get to toronto thursday night, and run into muzikman sitting in the lobby of the skydome hotel. We chat, and I introduce him to the team I'm playing with. We get to talking.. I talk about playing pump, and picking up the piranha he had stashed away for me.
the conversation soon follows into him having his pumpmag with him, but none of his other pumps, and I ask if I could use it the next day. The morning comes.. I get up, goto the AO meeting and meet up with muz again. ... before long I have a pumpmag in my hands. Heeding muz's advice I go to fill the air tank and get some practice in on the gun before heading out on the tourny field with it.
*click, bang, click, bank, click, bang* I'm sitting there pumping the gun and fireing it. My friend 314159 had filled the tank for me and we were passing it around the table playing with this very unique pumpgun. Soon we discover that the gun... isn't really a pump. We think the wafer spring isn't strong enough so the gun was just recocking as normal. SO.. I was going to go onto the field with a semi, and pretend it was a pump by using the pump arm between shots... a pump in spirit at least. I soon manage to make the gun utterly lock up. the pump arm stuck back, and the trigger non-responcive. 314159 manages to fix it by loosening the body screw.. and unbeknownst to us yet.. release the jammed pump arm from under the bolt.
Just before the game I notice the tank is at 1800psi. The tank muz had put on it was a 110ci apocalypse. A tank I considdered perfect for me. My mind knew the apoc could handle 4500psi, the tank was a carbon fiber tank.. and imediatly my mind assumed it was a 4500psi tank. I found out I was wrong soon after. I take the gun and tank up to the fill line.. the 4500psi line. As I'm waiting in line my stomach churned, I knew something was wrong. I watched the guage on the tank climb, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 4700.. and POP. The burst disk on the tank went.
314159 came to my rescue, he ran up to the room and got my trracer for me, and went out and got a burst disk for the apoc tank in hopes of us getting the tank fixed in time to use the gun for the next game.
The next game approaches, and I sit out. I was the alternate on the novice team. We replace the burst disk. We went to fill the tank.... and found the on/off was dead. So, with a little experimentation we manage to find out teh regulation stage of the apoc is ok, so we attack the tank to the gun, air it up, and get ready for me to play again.
I get on the field.. I feel confident. I make the break, run to my bunker.... pump the gun.. with the pump held down I pull the trigger... I get one shot off. the gun jams solid...... on the field I discover that you don't hold the pump down and fire on a pumpmag. We got the flag pull... but I was nutered from that point on.
the next game tyger decides he can't shoot his phantom anymore due to his cast screwing up his pump stoke. He pulls out his stroker and hands me his phantom. I play a coupple successfull games with the phantom.. ending the day by running out of air the last game.
Saturday rolls around, and we decide we need 2 semis' in back. So, I pull the strings, and muz loans me his emag. With emag powered warp, halo, blue to red fade. (an abolutely beautiful peice of agd hardware.)
I KNOW I can shoot a mag. And so long as it doesn't have an intentional bolt stick problem. they just work for me. So I take the e-mag.. get it chronographed. I soon learn that the paint we're using STICKS BADLY into the warp if you let it sit for a few minutes. soon after that I learn that it sticks in the halo too. Blah. I figure I can unjam it at the chronograph before the game.
Game time comes, I need to unjam the gun. No biggie. I have 1200 rounds on me, I'll be shooting the full 5 mins, non-stop. No problem. I get on the field, the halo flashes at me. I have NO idea what it's saying. I turn it off, try to turn it on again.. and it won't turn on. I think the adrenalin was making my hands not work right. I shoot 8 balls on the way to the first bunker.. and manage not to be able to free anything untill afer the game, and I find out that the halo had stuck on the sticky paint.
I had 1200 balls.. and I shot 8 :-/ bad day. Though, acutally using the e-mag without knowing I had to hand it back right away.. well.. I'm in love with that magnetic trigger.
In the end we got the sportsmanship award. we won X-boxes.... 5 years of trying and tip/PPIG finally does it.
FYI, I know why all the problems happened... and it's mostly user failure. thanks for any sympathy ;-)
