    Minimag barrel

So, just bought another mag, n it'll be coming with a minimag barrel, which I've never used before so was wondering:
Is it all aluminum? (have never seen one get anno'ed)
Is it good/bad? (I like the way it looks so if it doesnt need replacing then I might keep it)

    Thanks

(and I did try searching, but came up with no results)

It's aluminum, shorter, with no porting and a fairly large bore. The detente slots are cut deep so nubbins will generally hold modern paint (provided you're using an agitated hopper and not a force-fed. Performance-wise it's a little shorter than ideal and is limited in modern setups by the detent system.

If you're not using an RT valve, a non-forcefed hopper is perfectly capable of matching your max ROF... I've rarely encountered a twistlock barrel that was capable of preventing double feeds with a modern forcefed hopper (only BOAs), but I've also never really seen the need for the use of a forcefed loader with an SS bodied mag seeing as it would look and feel awkward as hell and wouldn't noticeably improve function...

I can attest to the fact that the stock MM barrel can deal with warpfeed pressures.

I've used a Halo on my SS bodied/Retro valved Mag before using a J&J barrel and didn't notice a lot of double feeds. I have to admit that I don't RT much though.

Not sure if the bore size was ever smaller, but the one I have could launch cannonballs. \

It has to be .92+, and I wish it wasn't cause I love how it looks.

yea I like the look too, and was considering getting it modded for inserts but that seems like it'd be too expensive n not very worthwhile lol

I ran a warp on my Minimag for years and never once had a problem with it. I used the stock barrel for indoor play and a boomstick for outdoor. I found the stock barrel to be pretty darn accurate, good for close quarter combat.

Dunno how you'd do that - the bolt has to enter the breech so they'd have to be inserted from the front like the old style Freak backs, and then you'd need something threaded into the front to keep the insert in when firing. There just isn't enough meat on it.

The barrel in question measures .689. I have several.

The shorter barrels are good for CO2 as well (more than HPA I mean).
