    Countersinking Field strip screw?

While lookin at one of my mags and thinking about possible customizing, I came across the thought of countersinking both the FS screw and the frame screw and using flathead scrw for a more flush streamlined look. Besides ease of disassembly is there any reason why the stock FS screw and frame screw should be kept?

I've seen Logic FSS"s that had countersunk holes

An overtight or too loose field strip screw could spell problems for your valve. I'm not sure of the tolerances, but keep that in mind.

The early ones didn't even have allen holes in them.

Someone had a thru-hole countersink bit they used on an ego frame, iirc. They pulled on the bit instead of pushed.

In the end they are just screws, but watch the frame thickness where you plan to countersink. You'll have some stress concentration just from tightening the screws, as well as normal play.

As mentioned above it would be really hard to do with a 45 frame. I use the countersunk screw on my Logic frame but that was cut like that fro the start. I don't really think it would be feasible to try to drill it though. If you really want to stream line it just use the same screw from the body just don't over tighten it.

I didnt think about the trigger guard being in the way, so yeah I guess that one is out, but may still consider the FS screw. I think the rubber washer helps keep the FS from backing out, wonder if I should put some of the blue loctite on the threads?

You may be able to use a dremel for the rear at least, don't really see why you'd need to counter-sink the frame screw though since it should be pretty unobtrusive unless u have a washer under it.

For cosmetics I guess this would look cool but why complicate a tool-less design? The quick valve disassembly is what I'm pointing at.

Why do we do 1/2 of the things we do?
Why pay $100's of dollars for a cool one off trigger, or $200+ for some crazy ano job?

I like the idea of the field strip screw, but honestly, I have never field stripped it, and you need a tool to undo the trigger frame anyways, so... I play so little that I won't spend any significant time at the field teching a marker if it isnt working, I just switch to something else and get back into the game. I'll honestly most likely won't even do it since I can't seem to find the correct screw at any of my local hardware stores and I don't feel like buying 50 of them to meet a minimum order or whatever. Was just thinking about it.

Dont mean to offend, I completely get the modding in all sorts as I have done. But just pointing out It makes sense to have a tool-less valve out in the field when you play for a quick change for those ball breaks or what not. Just replying to your question/opinions on why the field strip screw should be kept, its all good man you can do what you like its yours.

In my humble opinion, you should focus your idea on a field strip screw in the front.

I would buy them if they were made.

                        It just makes sense.

No offense taken. But really, I have never once taken the valve out on the field to clean a ball break. I need glasses for close up work, I am sure some of the other over 40's can relate, but I don't wear them on the field because I don't need them for anything past arms length. Me attempting to field strip a marker would be like watching an old Magoo short.

I have no ability to machine anything. Defintiely out of my realm. I wouldn't be a customer for one either.
