    Prep work?

I have some parts that I want to get anoed. One of the parts is an EMag rail that has been milled. My question involves what to do with the lazering that is on the parts of the rail that did not get milled? I didnt get the rail media blasted or anything, so parts of the warnings etc are still showing. Obviously, I dont want this shwoing up the finished product. Do anodizers typically just media blast these off and then polish afterwards, or is this something I should tackel before sending it in?

I do have an email out to the anodizer, but havent gotten a reply yet, and had some spare time on my hands today if I need to start working on it. I already want to do some "softening of the edges so I'll already have sandpaper etc out.

    Thoughts?

Any quote I have received for ano has included a price for stripping.

And if done in a bulk item set, every piece is a single pay rate.

I thought stripping ano and stripping lazering where different? Thats kind of what I am asking. I know the stripping that is done by anoers is stronger than using Easy off, but that definitely doesnt remove lazering.

If bazooka_boy is doing the ano, I'm pretty sure he does light refinishing work as part of the process. It's part of the quality control. At least, that's the impression I got when sending emails back and forth.

From what I was told via my ano guys, they doa form of "bead blasting" or "sand blasting" on the surface to remove the etching/laser cast. They made it sound like it was done with chemicals though,...

I didnt get into the conversation about the process as I was looking for the stripping of the colors specifically.

You can get a much more accurate solution to your questions if you call though. I find I get a person on the phone, I can ask for "metal fabrication" or "surface prep" techs exactly what I want to ask and they give me an answer. Then I can talk to the office rep in the same call and talk pricing.

I would call them before holding your breath on the e-mail.....

It's Bazooka, so sometimes it takes a day or two. I'm sure I'll hear back from him, was just wondering out loud.
