Here's the problem Butterfingers:

1. You knew that your post was flame bait. "Not to start a flame..."

2. You saw that the thread was going down hill. You did not delete your thread and allowed it to go on - continuing to post in it.

If you think you are being unfairly treated, please explain to us why so that we can remedy the problem if one exists.

When you are talking about the other thread, note that it was an uneventful discussion. We watched that one carefully. Note that this new problem thread may have had a related topic, but it was not smart debate - it was a racially involved flame war. You cannot compare the two threads.

Miscue I think I have an idea.You see Butterfingers is a great guy and had no idea this would happen so how about when you see a thread that violates the rules how about posting something like this thread has violated the rules and will be shut down instead of banning people like that. But those who did insult eachother were given what they deserved.Sometimes people don't know the rules like butterfingers and didn't know they would be banned. I know he is, and believe me I was reluctant to do so but I must be consistent and fair. Some action needed to be taken. Action was taken upon those attacking other members or from having very disruptive behavior. The attacking of other members is really what did it... in this case people were throwing in racial stuff along with it. Butterfingers did not attack anyone but has some responsibility in the matter.

Hey, I'm pretty laid back really... so don't worry about offending me, so long as you don't smell really bad I don't care.

I wish to discuss this matter in a way both of us can handle this in a thoughtful manner without initiating in further rabblerousing.

I respond to your two comments by the simple fact that the rules are in fact ambiguous and undefined.

First off, I did not think it would be such a problem, I offred (Name Here) to PM me if he would like to keep it private. I asked the other not to flame because quite simply I was intrested in the issue and wished people not to flame. If I posted somthing wanting opinions about cockers I would do the same.

So it is incorrect to delibrately blame me for trying to start a flame war. In fact that was not my intention.

Yes I saw it was going downhill, I did post in it. If you can show publicly what I did post in my second reply it would be much appreciated. It is self explainatory what my intentions were in the post.

Also what am I to know what is going over the line? Apparently (insert name here) Hitler dancing sig was perfectly appropriate. Yet people trying to defend themselves was not? I hate to say the "double standard" word but it exists. There is a double standard. Frankly, it has alot of us confused.

If I would not have made the threat "I will delete this post if flaming occurs" as an incentive or attempt to promote civil discussion. Would you not be making that arguement against me. I have NO control over what people say.

So, the reason I did not delete it was because compared to hitler dancing, I did not think that the comments were powerful enough to justify ending discussion.

I also do not know what happened or what anybody said after my second post.

Was it MY PERSONAL fault that this SIMILAR thread blew up?

I belive it is appropriate to compare the two threads because they are of similar topics with similar intentions in which the thread starter simply wanted opinions.

The only diffrence is that my thread blew up. Do you see here I am going with this. So in essence you are punishing ME for what others did.

Nobody can gaurantee that a post will not blow up.

Miscue, This is not an attempt to reinstate my account. In fact I could care less If you deleted it permenently.

However, it IS an attempt to bring to light some of the issues that reflect the governing body here on AO. As Shartley said, its time for you mods to do some thinking and to develop a more standard way to enforce the rules.

Punishment only works if the offending party realizes his wrong. Help me realize what I did wrong.

I think it helps for me to put a face behind "Butterfingers" to better help others understand my intentions and dispell any notions that I am just a punk kid trying to start trouble. So here I am in my most professional form. Trust me I have better things to do than to start trouble, my intention here is to help, not to hurt. Admittedly I do belive it adds to the credibility of my arguement.

Oh and yes it is medically proven that paintball is safe and is good for you! So get out there and lower those LDLs!

ok, i believe this whole thing is messed up, i don't know exactly what's going on and i kind of don't wnat to know. i've learned that it's sometimes better not knowing. but my only thing is this, many people are offended by the "insert hitler dancing here". I am. i'm not jewish, white whatever. i have a very high respect for my country and a pure hatrid for all of those "proud" socialists. i don't like using the words love or hate, but i know that i hate Nazi's. Hitler has got to be one of the worst human beings(and i don't even think he qualifies as that) that has ever been born into this world. Millions of people died because of their actions, and died to end them. that being said, did any moderators now that people didn't appreciate seeing it? did anyone actually say "hey Army, did you see his sig? could you do something about that?" or "Miscue, do you think his sig is right? i don't find that appropriate." Whatever the little conversation would have consisted of. was it really brought to their attention? sure i think they could have taken it upon themselves to question him. i just think it's unfair to say anything as to why he's had it for so long if it was never said directly to them. just my thoughts.
