AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
I actually tend to beleive that Barrel length has little to do with how many shots per tank you get to a certain degree. From just my own personal testing, ie a 16" All American that I unscrewed the porting on to get around 7" of solid barrel, I notice NO difference in velocity. And from general use no difference in SPT(Shots per tank). What I do notice is the difference in sound and the ability to hide behind a bunker.
I believe that once the ball reaches max velocity in the barrel as long as it does not touch the 2nd stage of the barrel then no SPT are lost and velocity remains the same.
Most 2nd parts or 2 stage barrels are at least .690 or better. So the Ball never touches the outer portion.
Of course this is all armchair calculations although the velocity does not change between the two.
Yes I am saying Ported Barrels and 2 stage barrels are irrelavent in terms of FPS, of course extremely large paint may rub the 2nd stage but we will ignore that arguement.
I am also saying, against common thought, that a 2 stage barrel is no less ineffecient than its 1st stage. That in fact maximum velocity has been achieved before the porting. Thus the porting would just evenly disperse the pressure and making the marker quieter.
It would reason to think that if the 2nd stage made the marker less effecient then the FPS would change, and I would have to adjust the velocity settings, when in fact I do not.
