Finding one shouldn't be to terribly hard. A million of them were sold back in the day. Personally I still like my old dye UL barrel. I've got to agree with yhe above. From what I can tell today's paint is not the quality of the 90s. It's also not the price of the 90s either.

Ditch the twistlock.

If not go with an Doc Nickle twistlock adapter.

A mid to large bore(.685+ size) go with 1 barrel, a Dye UL or even a Lapco.

If you don't want roll outs, picking up a freak bored barrel or even a freak style barrel will cover all possibilities. I would go with a Stella barrel from Inception Designs.

Other than that, run what you like. Opinions and use will always vary from person to person.

Armson, Smart Parts, J&J, Dye all made good twistlock barrels. the problem is that todays paint is averaging .003 to .005(or more) smaller than the paint back when twistlocks were the only option. I have models by all of the mentioned manufacturers and it depends on the paint you have that day as to which is most accurate. I also have 2 E Mags and run into the same problems with their ac threaded barrels. I usually carry a half dozen and just pick the one that seems to work best that particular day.

I have a couple DYEs and DACs, but the stock minimag barrel is actually my fav for twistlocks. It's done me well.

My favorite twist lock barrel is my Lapco .686 bore. Lapcos are very well made and therefore accurate.

Personally, I find my twistlock 'Mag is a bit easier on paint than my 'Cocker threaded barrel, although not significantly.

There are very few crap twist-lock Automag barrels. I've used Ultralites, Boomsticks, PMI perfect bore, Lapco, J&J Ceramic, All American, Progressives...all shoot mostly the same. Quality of paint is the much more important factor. Boomsticks are my personal favorite, but part of that might be a placebo affect. My first "good" barrel was a Boomstick, and it was much more accurate than the stock barrel I had been using before, but every barrel since then has been about the same.

I'll second what was said about barrel kits, though. Every time I try to use my barrel kit, I get breaks from random over-sized balls. I've had much more luck in the last few years with .689 barrels and larger.

And there is a Boomstick on eBay right now. Not a bad price too. Personally, I would ask for a picture of the inside bore before buying, but that might be the way to go if you don't want to wait around for the "perfect" barrel.

Lapcos are very well made and therefore accurate.

Hasn't the myth of "barrel accuracy" been thoroughly debunked? And I think stock barrels have an undeserved reputation for being inaccurate, too. Yes, they tend to be overbore, and therefore less air efficient, but that doesn't make them inaccurate. But as long as there aren't SIGNIFICANT problems in the bore, then all barrels will have the same accuracy.

Freak all the way. Already had a twistlock, but since I am getting a new body I just ordered a Cocker back today. Run the best fitting insert and you're in business!
