    Cameras on paintball markers

Anybody mount a camera on their marker? If so, what model camera and how did you go about mounting it?

Inception Designs sells a barrel camera mount.

Personally for watchability I'd rather watch a helmet cam video.

You can, most times, see what the player is looking at.

I guess maybe I've seen too many videos where you are looking at the ground with a marker mounted camera.

I agree, however with a little editing barrel cam video can be enjoyable, especially watching the hits. I guess I’m mostly looking at my options really. But I could also go with mounted to the mask.

Wow that’s expensive! But for what it does I suppose it is worth it

Those are more in the realm of what I would be interested in using. Gotta admit I completely disregarded the idea of mounting one to my mask but now when I get one I may have to try that as well to see what I prefer.

My buddy had his Sony action cam shot out mid-game. The whole front lens blew out into a million pieces. We actually stopped the game to have a moment of silence for his camera haha. He wasn't even mad.

When it came out, I bought the Dye I5 mask because it comes with a camera mount, but I hated the ginormous twist knob strap thingy and sold it.

I have an Ion and I just use zip ties to stick it to the side of my mask. I get it forward enough so that the mask isn't in the FOV, and then just play.

Helmet cameras are key for capturing the action of the game. If you just want to capture hits, a gun camera would serve well except the problem I have with most gun camera footage is that you can't really see the hits with 99% of the action cameras out there. I tested a hybrid route- a helmet camera (Contour) and a gun Camera (GoPro Hero 2), but I modified the gun camera with a 50mm telephoto (designed specifically for the GoPro). Here are the results in a 2v2 match on a small (speedball sized) field:

I didn’t know the i5 had a camera mount on it. Not a fan of the mask personally(never tried one tbh) but still pretty cool for that option.

Awesome video, loved the picture in picture showing the gun’s camera view. I think I’m starting to lean towards to mask mounted option.

Just ordered the EVO wearable gimble. It'll be awhile before I can shoot any paintball with it, but I'll post up some mock play after I get it.
