              Basically..

Those who are interested will just show up and play, we'll all take turns reffing, and we'll match up people who don't have a whole 10-man to play with. I think we'll play the mounds as I doubt the other fields are large enough to support 10-man.

for all those of you who think it may be difficult to start a team its not, what we did was put flyers up at the bottom of all the dorms and outside the main lecture halls, just say something like, "looking to start a paintball team, email me at...." its that easy, even if you dont make a team, you'll probably find some cool people to start to paintball with.

I'm the Vice President of the Oregon Institute of Technology paintball club. Currently we're working on getting netting, a field and our rental guns. We have the money for most things, but coming up with some sort of field that is attractive enough for being on campus is difficult.

Could you clarify what you mean by "attractive"? As in the University thinks the field will be too much of an eyesore to approve it?

You wouldn't leave netting up all the time, just when the field was in use, so the only really permanent things that would be there would be posts for the netting. Another option is to use chain link fencing to support netting, sort of like a tennis court does with the wind sheeting they use. CPX uses 1.5 inch (maybe 2 inch?) metal piping to support their netting I believe.

You may want to get in touch with Matt Spitz over at Iowa State University ([email protected]), he was the point man on getting a paintball field approved to go on campus there. I believe they're putting the field where old unused tennis courts are located now, but I'm sure he can fill you in on all the details.

Being a rural Campus with an Agricultural Land grant roots with lots of land has its advantages. we are down the road a few miles from Main Campus surronded by woods in a open field. So we solved that problem.

Chris, I suspect with a limited budget they may have to use a lot of old wooden pallets and such. A lot of that stuff looks kinds junky.

Attractive as in it's not a field with a bunch of ag tires and wooden pallets stacked up. If all goes well, we can get this field to be placed on an old soccer field right behind the dorms. So it would be easy to get that done if we can setup a nice looking field like an Ultimate Air field. We plan on putting the netting on a pulley system to lower it after each weekend to preserve the netting from being damaged by wind, rain, etc. We also need a field that can be taken down easily so we can assure the administration that nobody will be playing on the field that isn't part of the paintball club.

                                Well in that case...

You Oregon guys need to emai me about getting an airball field to you. Not that expensive. We can also probably help you out with rental markers and other equipment like chronos.
