    foamiless superbolt?

Some of you may know i've been having problems with my superbolt. I couldn't get my foamie to stay on the tip no matter how hard i tried. I eventually gave up and for the past month i've been using a long nose foamiless. I was messing around trying to get my verticle feed mini to stop chopping(another issue entirely) when i decided to try the superbolt without my foamie. Of course it chopped but i began thinking, why? It really shouldn't be chopping the paint. I took out the super bolt and looked to see of any rough points on the tip. Busted out my dremel and rounded the edges. I tried putting some more paint through it and it shot for a little bit but again chopped. However, as i said, i was having chopping problems with the gun i was shooting. I was going to put it in my tried retromag, but i ran out of air. When i shot slow shots on the mini, it didn't break, only after rapid fire did it break so i'm thinking my superbolt is ok.

My question is instead of having a foamie, why not have a foamiless superbolt and have delrin where the foamie is? I seem to recall when it first came out, the superbolt had this, but the tip of the bolt was flat. I think if you just had the whole tip part of the bolt delrin, then just concave it to have it go easy on the paint instead of a flat surface, it would work. I don't know if this has been tried or what, but i was just wondering.

Another question is that now if i have my superbolt without the foamie, there is now a space from where the core of the bolt(i'm guessing its SS) and the tip of the delrin ends. Is that going to affect performance or anything?

    Try this...

    1) Take all the glue off the face of the bolt. Make sure there is NOTHING left but bare metal.

    2) Swab the NEW foamie and the bolt face with alcohol.

    3) Put a VERY little drop on each of the 3 spokes on the bolt face. I mean VERY VERY little. Just enough to create a thin layer. Apply light and EVEN pressure to the foamie to compress the glue.

    4) Make sure you use a surface insensitive adhesive such as loctite quick tite.

I have done this on both my longnose SS foamie and my superbolt. The foamie has NEVER fallen off.

The trick is using LESS glue with MORE cleaning and preperation.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives are funny substances. The thinner the layer of glue the stronger the bond will be.

        my problems choping too...

Hey Big-Guy, You're the only other person I know of who has a VF Minimag. My choping problem seems to lie in the blowback associated with this type of marker. I've been looking everywhere for help on alleviating this problem and to make it function more smoothly and efficiently. If there is anything you have done to do so please let me know - perhaps we can brainstorm the kinks out of this marker setup.

        What I currently have;

        VF Minimag w/14" J&J Ceramic
12V Revie w/x-board(don't really think it helps)
        Centerflag Hyper Frame
Waiting on the proper Reactor Valve so it can recharge the ANS Phase II and Venturi Bolt(Seem to be having eratic velocity)
        88ci 4500psi on a Kapp DZ2(cause it's a gas hog!)

Hyper Frames are limited to ROF while on Hyper and burst mode to 10bps but I have been "clocked" at 15bps(dry fire) while on semi and that's not by "fanning" the trigger. All my choping is occuring while on Semi. So other than a Warp Feed - either AGD or Pro Team what can you suggest???

        Thanks,

        Jack

i was looking into it and i noticed that the bolt is potruding slightly past the feed tube where the balls feed into the breach. i have a 12v, 12v w/xboard and halo. all chopped. the halo seemed to let me shoot the fastest so i would have to say that this is the problem. i'm going to try and call agd and see if they can solve this for me.

This is your problem. Current Level 7 automag parts that come stock on your gun are the best. There have been ALOT of problems regarding aftermarket parts on mags. 99.9 percent of them do nothing for your mag. When it comes to the automag stick with stock they are always the best parts. So if you have them put them back on. Chopping, erratic velocity, ect. will magiclly stop...

Big Ragu, I am not sure about your superbolt, but mine does not have a foamie on it, but mine also has a concave delrin face. The shop that I bought it from told me that it was post recall, but I am not convinced, still I very seldom break paint with it.

My understanding is that the superbolts like the one I have were not intended to have a foamie but yours was, at least that is what I have been told. But foamie or no, mine is not breaking paint so I am going to leave well enough alone.
