What kind of Tourney would you play?

Well, I was reading the review of the Ultimate Madness on Warpig, and I was really curious to see what you guys thought. Ultimate Maddess was a 3 man tourney that just happened this past weekend in case you didnt know, and the entry fee was relatively high for a 3-man event, but there were tons of prizes, and many good ones at that! Now the question: Would you rather?

    A. Pay a REALLY big entry fee and lots of money for paint to get into a tourney where there are really good prizes that would make it more then worth your while if you won, and you have a decent chance of breaking even prize wise if you do good. or?

    B. Pay really small entry fees and cheap paint prices for a tourney with relatively small prizes, prizes only for 1st and 2nd, or no prizes at all, just a trophy, pat on the back, and thrill of competition amonst your fellow paintballers?

I picked B. The only reason I would play in the expensive tourney is either its the last one for a while, or just for the competition.

Mostly B... good practice on a monthly/bi-monthly basis. But you gotta do an option A every once in a while as well.

Hmmm define "really big" (3 or 5 man).

On principle I like B. Especially when a prize in B is a free entry to A.

Well the Ultimate Madness was 350 a team plus 50 for air for a 3 man event, however it had a strong player base going into it along with good sponsor support, so they pretty much could guarentee having enough teams there. So for a local tourney with comperable prizes, Really big means in the area of 500 for 3 man and 80 dollar paint.

Gotcha. Gonna have to still go with B.
