    Excalibur Performance vs. Mag

I know that this is a Mag forum so before anyone starts flaming or decides to put snide remarks, the only reason I'm asking here is because I trust and value the opinions of the people here more than anyone else. If you have an intelligent answer or one based on experience, kindly give your comments.

    Thanks,

    Don

    love my excal
    efficent
    reliable
    consistent
    Bolt stops on inferno
Very nice to paint, first barrel burst on case 10 and first chop on case 13. It;s nice to have a gun that is paint agnostic it doesn't care as long as it fits in the feed tube this gun will shoot it without bursting it.

    Cons
Loader picky- i have trouble geting the gun past 12 bps and loading reliably even with halo
    rather overpriced
ugly as a warthog, i view my excal as more of a tool than a fashion statment

    Emag
    disgustingly fast
    reliable
    consistent
    did i mention fast?

    Cons
downright mean to paint, heaven help you if it doesn't like the paint

In crunch time in a tourney i still choose to have the excal by my side. Paint that the emags hates (chops bursts) my excal will shoot like darts. I really like both of the guns but my marker of choice is still my excal. Hopefully with some of tom's new mods i will have 2 tools to choose from.

I shot an Excal and I liked the speed of my mag better. I can rip on my retro mag faster than I could on the excal. The excal I used chopped and it was leaking. Funny thing was is that the AKA rep let me shoot it and having it in such poor condition did not impress me. Ever since I have done that bolt mod(grinding down that sharp edge) I have not had problems with breaking paint in my mag, I use Midnight diablo. Anyway, I think I would like the Viking better due to the open bolt system only if it is faster than the EXCAL. I think it is a well designed marker but I feel way more comfortable with my tiny mag setup. After shooting with my mag every gun feels HUGE. My 2 cents.

excal, gotta love the trigger, gotta love the acuracy, and gas efficency, the reliablity, the stribability, the quietness. They are great guns. If u belive the openbolt vs closed bolt thing where Ao says open bolt is just as good, save the money and buy a viking. I like guns with eyes personally.

I've still got one micro Emagnum all hooked up. If it's just a full auto thingy. But at least with the Excalibur, I'd hit what I was aiming at.

check the pics of my system x barrel after your micro emag loved paint so much it loved the paint all over my barrel and made an utter cleaning nightmare out of your marker... of course that was marbelizer you were shooting then...

Burn... no ... were you burnt?

                Don

Oh sorry I was mistaken, it was not my system x barrel that you completely covered in paint. It was in my sfl emag that jon shot that screwed all the paint on the barrel... ofcourse his micromag still was so dirty from the ball breaks that he couldn't even put it in his car for fear of dirtying the carpet.

                  Don,

I ALWAYS hit what im aiming at. Usually because I push the bunker over on my opponent from the opposite side then leap over it and bunker the crap out of him.

                  Sorry Tony...

                        Need a straw?

Jon, I too witnessed the devastating effects of your Micro Emag. We all learned that day not to get too close to you, for fear of drowning. Interesting concept...if you cant stop the balls from breaking in your gun, just drown them with spray!

Hey don I did dome research and as far as I can tell you have to buy a excal straight from aka, so your stuck paying full price unles you can get one used.

Not true, it's just that most online retailers don't stock them.

AKA has a list of distributers on their website, anyone of them can get an Excal, and could give a better price than MSRP.

I know mine, which is milled and anno'd either of which is the standard AKA style, is going to cost around 1400.

Bottom line is, they are both phenomenal guns!!! To me, the E-mag is a bit faster, and handles a little better!!! And now that I have a rounded foamie bolt on it, it's shooting any paint I put through it with no problems!!! Basically, it comes down to a matter of personal preferance!!!
