    AGD on Aesthetics

Now I know the mag line is all about pure streamlined functionality. However do we not all agree a lot of the draw of Angel's and Autococker's are that you can make them real purty.
Why do people buy Dye Grip frames? Functionality? I wouldn't bet on that even if it were the only dog on the track! The reason people buy Dye grips is because they look nice (I know cause I'm one of those suckers). Now I look at the AGD intelli and I see that AGD is using the trusty AGD imprint, simple, typed in something standard like times new roman styling font. Nothing flashy at all. Now I know that the new Extreme Emags are a step in the right direction, but a simple change of font, a little bit of swoosh in the AGD letters. SOMETHING to make it not so plain, and a lot more people would look into an intelli at first glance than the Dye for example.

    My 3 1/2 cents. (I used a 1 1/2 cent word)

Ooooh you got told by the man

Anyways I love the redesign the intelli. idea. Although I saw nothing wrong with the design in the first place. But hey do I smell a contest comming on?

AGD-maybe instead of the dye grips, develop your own kinda sticky grips that'd fit stock mag frames, and get them in differant colors, and get the agd lion logo inset in the grips. maybe make come clear ones with light shades of a color. nothing can beat the company logo, it looks sweet.

I think the auto cocker is the most b.... ugly paintball gun made. An angel while not ugly is not all that aesthetically pleasing. The automag, IMO, is very purty. Not all of us are attracted to shiny objects.

The only thing about the frame that kills me is the AGD logo on it. I'm sorry, I'm a die hard AGD fan, but just seeing AGD stamped on the side of the Intelli is like looking at a giant "Made in China" sticker.
I am however dreaming up a new insignia or something for it. It might take a few, I have finals coming up, but I will.

You make some good points Ivan. A lot of paintball is word of mouth. The folks on AO know AGD products are good but to the uninitiated some flash here and there maybe what it takes to catch their eye. I guess it's all about marketing to get them lured in. From there the Mags performance would keep them hooked.

As long as we're talking about styling, I'd also like to suggest an upgrade on the grips for basic automags... the current ones that come stock definitely look old an outdated. Nothing super fancy needed, just some basic rubber one's like on the minimag would work nicely.

I don't mean to sound like one of those people who say the mag is old -- therefore it sucks. Or, that aesthetics should take priority over quality. This couldn't be further from the truth. However, there is a general perception in the less-educated paintball world that new is better than old, and flashy is better than plain.

I can speak from experience: I'm a relative newcomer to the sport, and before I found out how cool mags really are, my first impression after seeing pictures in online stores was that mags looked like a holdover from a bygone era. The flat gray tube and funky plastic looking grips definitely had a yester-year appearance. And until I began doing a bunch of research I had no inclination to buy one.

Now its not like Airgun can't do style: IMO the RT is the best looking stock paintslinger out there... But I would like to humbly suggest that the basic automag could benefit from a slight cosmetic update. New rubber grips for sure, and maybe more black and chrome bodies instead of boring gray.

As far as intelliframe style goes, didn't Tom put up some fancy laser-cut designs up for review a while back?

If I remember it correctly, we here at AO voted that in.

                        you are correct

less stamps means fewer times i got to get my toothbrush out to scrub the paint out of them. that suits me just fine.

For the AO member, an automag diehard, the stamp is just a reminder of quality. Now look at the newbie buying a mag who looks at the benchmark, intelli, or dye frame. Now does he A) go for the Intelli because it's made by AGD
                          B) go for the Benchmark because of it's rep.
or C) go for the Dye, because it's flashy and looks nice?

I would say C) Go for the dye.
I say this because I speak from experience. I bought a Dye for my old gun when I first got it, not because of a rep or anything, but because it looked better than the benchmark.

Now with the induction of the Intelli, newbies will mostly have to go to the AGD store to buy them, I don't know how it is around all of you, but my local pro shops including Boston Paintball, the local field FOX 4, and PW paintball, all carry minimal Mag accessories. Many only carrying the ReTro valve, the Dye frame, a handful of barrels max, and maybe if your lucky a power tube spacer kit.

Then the noob gets to support two companies. First he supports Dye with a purchase, and then when he figures out the intelliframe is the only two finger frame built to the single trigger frame's exacting specifications, he supports AGD.

And that would be why this old noob is supporting only Dye?

Like I said, about a 2 years ago when I bought my first mag I picked up a Dye single trigger frame for looks and the fact that I liked the feel a little better than stock. That and I kinda broke the stock frame helped too

But now I have a Dye grip frame with clear stickies, and I don't have the money to just arbitrarily buy another Grip Frame.

That and now my barrel matches my grip
